Been For The Test Drive In A 147gta...

and what a fantastic car !!! This was my assesment after driving my wife's SLK320 for a week. The SLK is great too, don't get me wrong, but the 147GTA has bags of character. Went for a long test drive on Saturday morning and the way it pulls through the gears is magic, albeit with a slightly imprecise gearchange and heavier clutch than I expected. Caught the attention of a patrol car and sure I was about to collect another 3 points to my already high tally of 6 points, but they just admired the car as they drove past. A true head turner.

Anyway decided the 147GTA is slightly impractical for my needs, and as soon as the dealer mentioned he had a low mileage well cared for 156GTA comming in part ex against a 166 in August decided to go for this, especially as the price is a much more reasonable £18k for an 03 plate!!

By the way long delivery times on the 147GTA and GT are perfect for residuals. This is exactly the same with Porsche where we've just ordered a new model Boxster but won't get it till June 2005 !! Even the current model waiting time is 9 months. Oversupply kills residuals and hopefully GT and GTA's will more or less be made to order !

Yes I had also considered a 147 GTA but in the end I think that moving to the 156 GTA was the best option an amazing car. Best luck to you.

can i say: i told u so??

anyways, to further "tempt" u the potential of the 147 GTA is not reached in stock form...

also, as i mentioned b4, no doubt both are great cars, yet the 147GTA & 156GTA drive & feel is markedly different so its a tad erroneous to try the 147GTA and assume it will be the same as the 156GTA and vice versa....regardless, its up to personal preference and if the deal is too good & reasons of practicality rules... then go for it!!

all the best...
