Q2 fitted, chuffed!
Got my GTA back last night after having a Q2 fitted by the boys at F.A.S.T.
Drove home from Stockton to Saltburn and it handles great
ASR off and flooring it round bends in the wet is now possible. It just, well, goes round the corner, without all the craziness.
Took the long way home from work tonight and thats the most I've given it since I had the car, cornering is so much better. And no worries about things exploding etc...
cheers lads,
the question is: Q2 badge or not, and if so, where, I'm thinking not but could be convinced otherwise.

Re: Q2 fitted, chuffed!
Bacon I think you're right, there's nowhere for it to go...
Unless I took off the 156 badge and replaced that with Q2,
Anyone done that?
Don't think I'll make it tomorrow night, play footy on wednesday nights, will look out for the next one though, woul defo like to go to one.

replacing the 156 with the Q2 badge is probs the best solution, im sure someone on here has had it done, it rings a bell like.
how are you finding the difference in performance between the GTA and your coop, there surely cant be much in it can there?

Re: Q2 fitted, chuffed!
GTA slightly quicker acceleration I would say, not a lot in it, feel a bit different cos of the 6 gears, 3rd in the coop was great fun, but 4th in the gta just goes and goes..
Handling much better in the gta, and it feels better built, more solid, sort of more grown up?
brakes in the coop not too good, but my 305mm gta brakes are gonna need upgrading at some point...

didnt the coop have the 4-pot brembos?
what are you thinking brakes wise, disc/pad upgrade or 330mm upgrade?
might be a good idea to have a brief swap?drive, see wot u think of my brakes.

Re: Q2 fitted, chuffed!
Yeah the coop had the brembo brakes, but not particularly good, I had various discs / pads, best were the fiat le drilled discs and matching pads, at least they never squealed !
Would like to go for the 330 upgrade for the GTA, but the kit's not cheap, need to do some saving up first. the drilled / grooved discs would look good too tho! Q2 just done so will have to wait at least till pay day!
I take it yours has the 330s on already?
Yeah would be good to have a swap / drive, let me know when you are out and about.
later

sounds like a good plan,
let me know what looks good!
I can't see how it would go on and look right without replacing one of the other badges with it.
And you don't wanna take off the GTA badge do ya...

The Q2 is amazing isn't it?
Brakes - if you go for the 305 PF pads, remember to clean wheels and car religiously - that compound is not friendly to any paintwork! I'm upgrading to the 330s - brake parts came in at around £700.

Nice one! There are quite a few good swooping motorway slip roads around the Forth Road Bridge where you can test the power of the Q2.
However, my favourite place was on the Western Approach Road into town - there is a great complex where it arrives at the Gorgie end. Fantastic for scaring work colleagues on the way in in the morning - especially when it was raining
How I miss my car

Is there somebody who has the Q2 badge placed already?
I am especially interested how it would look on a blue GTA

It transforms the car grip wise I only wish the ride on the GT was better, without lowering it or worsening the excellent handling.

I know but I'd like to try first just to be sure.
How much would the supply & fit of the shocks be
I'd probably ask Ned to do it as he knows the car very well
Saying that, despite it being SWMBO car, I doubt I'd get approval, especially as the shares we usually sell for £6 are worth 40p

Was a bit more than that in my case, I bought the bits and got them fitted at a specialist, around £650 in total. I'd say worth it though.
by the way: Koni FSDs on standard springs on a 156 GTA ?
has anyone done that?
I was thinking of doing that next.

I got mine for £480 at AutoLusso, it cost me £70 for fuel there and back though as it was a 380 mile round trip from York.

Koni FSDs will make a massive improvement. I'd say use Eibach Pro springs as they are more progressive but they'll work fine with the GTA springs too. Won't make a difference to fitting costs whether you use new springs or old ones.

Re: Q2 fitted, chuffed!
was thinking of getting the FSDs fitted, and keeping the original springs.
I don't think the car needs lowering,
and I would think the Eibach pro springs lower the car by 25 - 30 mm or so?
