GTAs Rock!
Hi guys
There have been a few threads of doom and gloom recently about diffs, gearboxes, cambelts etc etc.
But let's just take a moment to remember how amazing the GTAs are.
I can't wait to drive mine tonight - especially when I go through the tunnels

Re: GTAs Rock!
Yep I love mine and can’t think of anything I would want to replace it with anytime soon.
Just last week I stopped to look at a 2003 M3 and after 10 seconds looking at the interior I walked away.

Re: GTAs Rock!
I get the opportunity every now and again in my friend's Novitec prepped 147 GTA (minor stuff) and just love that car. He's always on about selling it but never does. I think he only wants to sell it to me. He's done 7k kms since new and has fettled it like a baby!!! Maybe, just maybe....

I'm surprised you could think that, especially if you didn't drive it. I drove a friends m3 a few months back with the smg paddle gear change. What a superb car! Not massively quicker than a gta admittedly but a great car to drive. I took it out on my own and put it through its paces. The smg allows you to accelerate very quickly without even lifting of acceleration peddle. Cornering and balance superb, just so composed and the engine note whails at high revs. I would definitely have one over a gta, its in a higer league but so are the running costs. Plus its a car for tossers (which I suppose I am) so that puts me off. Odd you thought the interior was off, I loved it!
Actually on the same day, I drove an R32 which I thought was very bland, a 350z which did nothing for me and I don't like the look of, and a vx220 turbo which was blindingly quick but felt very vulnerable in.
GTA is a fab car, no doubt about it. It winds me up that Alfa let it leave the factory with such obvious suspsension short-comings but as I mentioned in a previous thread, the accountants had the last word.
p.s Ecurie, your thread title made me think this was going to be another thread about GTA's wafty suspension

Re: GTAs Rock!
I'd agree with both of you....
I don't like the interior. No flare at all.
Quality car though (even if German and driven by tossers)

Re: GTAs Rock!
When I had my off in the snow in my previous GTA I looked at various other options, including the M3. I too thought the interior was dull as dishwater, as were Audi A4/S4's. Infact the car I considered most before I got my current GTA was a GT 3.2!
After 100k miles in 2 GTAs in 5 1/2 years I still love driving it.

Re: GTAs Rock!
yea, its hard to fault Alfas on their interiors. My favourite is the GTV interior, looks super cool and sophisticated. A bit cramped but such a nice place to be. My only complaint about the gtv interior is the steering wheel. Its massive and a bit too thin. I like a chunky wheel. Alfa do know how to do interiors, dont they? Im perplexed as to why you all thought the m3 interior is dull. yep, its german so its organised and functional and orderly etc but still looks good. If you sit inside an R32, you'll fall asleep
Everytime I pass an R32, I always get a look from the driver. Its always the same. Its the look that says 'I wanted to get a gta but I bottled it and bought the safe (boring) one instead'

Re: GTAs Rock!
I couldn't agree more. I have had mine just over 3 years now, and while I am seriously considering a MiTo next year I still love the GTA. It is still a head turner.

My car was in the garage for a couple of months.
It was almost worth it for that first drive when I got it back - what a car!
Hang on in there!

I am just about hanging in there mate. Just about. I am suffering severe withdrawl symptoms though
I bought a 155 to get my Alfa fix in the meantime, but broke that one too

Re: GTAs Rock!
There are going to be other angles elsewhere on here, but two days ago I drove my GTA up through the Stelvio Pass in the Alps. It was a truly excellent experience - worth the 1000 mile detour I took to get there all on it's own.

Cool!, will we get a full detailed report and photos of the GTA with the Alps in the background?

Indeed they do!
I've had mine for almost two and a half years and I will replace it with something else next year but I still enjoy my GTA enormously. It's been a great car!

Re: GTAs Rock!
Indeed they do. I've had to fork out for a new tyre and windscreen this week but I don't care. Knowing that I can drive that car home from work in 20 minutes is making me smile right now.
I have no idea what I'd replace it with. I certainly can't see me going to another brand unless something fortunate happens and I can afford a 911 in a few years!

Re: GTAs Rock!
Going up - brilliant. Awe inspiring.
Going down was a bit crappy, but that's probably mostly because we got stuck behind a camper van and then broke down.
But I still got the feeling that the down bit is nowhere near as good. You're always on the brakes, and don't feel as confident opening it up.
Oh. If you do get caught behind anyone, you can just stop at the side of the road for a few minutes and look at the jaw-dropping scenery for a while instead. Or shakeyour head in disbelief at the utter mentalists who CYCLE up it!
