So I think it's fair to say, your 147 looks a bit more mint than mine!

Thoroughly deserved compliments, from the pictures, mate!

I've had comments like that, usually, as you say, from people who've never driven an Alfa. I converted a couple of mates when I first had the GTA by taking them for a quick drive (quick as in fast ) - they certainly couldn't fault the performance after that. Booting the car in 2nd and 3rd usually gets the "Jeeeez!" response

yeh all my friends that have been in the car love it, its just the people who have never been in it who take the mick, and with the car braking down this has not helped matters. But should not be long till i get it back, and i love it and thats all that matters

Re: 147 Gta

Have you got it back together yet? £951 for a Q2'd rebuilt gearbox is a bargain! Is it pre-fitted with new oil seals? You'll need them if it hasn't already got them, also tell your mechanic to take care re-fitting the drive shafts, due to the angles its quite a tight fit and very easy to nick the seals.

You're welcome mate, there are cracking independent garages out there (like AutoLusso) that do excellent work for decent prices. They know their Alfas better than any dealer does, unfortunately I just saw my local (only ~130 mile-ish round trip ) close down due to lack of business. I hate to see people paying over the odds to get their cars back on the roads again knowing myself how cheaply things can be done if you know where to go and who to speak to, so helping people out on here serves a dual goal of keeping alive the fab little indies we have and stopping people getting fleeced at the same time.

All I can ask is for you to do the same with any other Alfa owners you know on here or in real life, spread the word and all that

So anyway, hopefully thats the box sorted, cambelt next then you'll hopefully be sorted for another few years of motoring, now you have a reason to keep her

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Sounds good! Is it for AROC members only? Haven't been a member for a few years now.

My thoughts exactly

You would've paid that just for a new box from Alfa, with no diff and a belt still overdue. Indies all the way
