156 GTA Rad

Hey guys. As you may know, I now own that green GTA and wow, what a car. I now need to fix the rad, and am tempted to have a go at it myself. Any one got any tips on how to do it, and more importantly, where I can get a new rad from! Thanks in advance.

Re: 156 GTA Rad

Congratulations!

I followed the 'dirt cheap...' thread and will be very interested to hear how you get on with this car. Keep us posted.

I'm in Southampton too, will keep an eye out for it.

Do you mind revealing how much you paid for it in the end?

Re: 156 GTA Rad

Some have fitted a 156 2.5V6 rad, which can be purchased for about £80.

Re: 156 GTA Rad

Thanks for that. I need to decide if I am going to do it, or pay someone else to do it.

ajrduff - If I told you, I would have to kill you but where in Southampton are you?

the rad for the 2.5 V6 is £91 + VAT for a genuine valeo/Alfa part.

The 3.2 V6 rad is £166 + Vat for the genuine one.

My friend had his Silver 156 GTA rad done recently which was £250 all in, using a real GTA rad from alfa.

hope this heps, although im sure there are very little differences between the two.

Re: 156 GTA Rad

I agree with most of that.

I bought one of those £80 rads and fitted it myself.

It was so good and just the same as the original - in every respect that I could see - I bought another one as her car needs doing.

Generally I don't like going cheap - but then also I don't like getting ripped off. I thought if it went wrong it is only £80 against £300 so I was willing to take a chance. It has been in now for ages and all is ok.

I guess you pays your money and takes your choice........!
