My New 147 GTA

Well, First I had better introduce myself. My names James and this weekend I had the experience of picking up my 147 GTA.

She's a 2004 Model Year, 32K Full Alfa Service History and I fell in love the moment I drove her. I looked at a couple of other red examples and despite them having a similiar mileage, they felt well - 'driven hard'. This one just felt so tight and its just like it has come from the factory. I'm just delighted.

I know I won't be delighted at the fuel bills but, its a sacrifice you can make when you are driving something so special. I got a price reduction, 6 months tax thrown in and a 5k cover warranty for a year from the dealer too who specialised in prestige cars.

I've already been on this website a bit before I said 'yes' to the deal and found out she has the larger calipers which was a relief. However there is no documented cambelt change (in the wod of paper work I was presented), so its time to start saving for that next.

Anyway a few pics :

Being only just 23 and owning this is just a dream Was kind of a first job present from my mum so a massive thank you to her.

I've owned an Italian car since the age of 17 (Fiat Seicento with a 16valve Punto Engine conversion) **I'm not a boy racer lol** and am a regular at the AutoItalia meetings. It would be a privilege to meet some of you at Stanford Hall, whoever is in attendance. Is it ok if I come and park with some of you guys?

Regards, James

Re: My New 147 GTA

Some goon got in the way of the first two pictures and ruined them

But congrats, lovely colour. Yes, worth saving for the cambelt chance and also the Q2 - its pretty essential. Lots of threads on it, have a search.

Enjoy

Welcome and nice looking car.

Is that the car yard in Romsey, on the small industrial estate at the northern edge of town just after the railway bridge?

Blimey, that's the kind of mum I'd like. Don't tell my son, he'll be wanting one when he's 17 Seriously though, she looks lovely and welcome. There's lots of great info here that will let you keep her as she should be kept.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: My New 147 GTA

Thanks for the nice comments guys very kind of you.

Yes she was from Romsey, but despite not being an alfa specialist as such i'd recommend them, their whole approach was top notch.

Your probably going to tell me it was barrel rolled into a tree now, by the previous owner! haha.

Are any of you going to be attending stanford hall?

Re: My New 147 GTA

I purchased my old 306 GTi6 from Romsey car centre a few years ago and found them to be very good throughout the sale of the car but one word of warning.

I paid for a 12 month warrantee through them and went to make a claim for a minor electrical fault 10 months later to find out that they had kept my money and had never taken out the warrantee.

Re: My New 147 GTA

Well have had the confirmation of the warranty through the post and it was part of the deal so at their cost. But will phone the company and make sure the car is registered with them and has a valid policy as a result!

Thanks.

Re: My New 147 GTA

hello and welcome, cracking car, love the shot in the petrol station, you'll be spending a while there!

I'll be at stanford, feel welcome to come and find me I'll be in the bright blue GTA sportwagon, I shouldn't imagine there will be too many of them there.

Re: My New 147 GTA

Nice one, welcome to the forum. Also if you don't go too heavy on the loud pedal all the time the GTA is actually pretty good on fuel.

I notice that every pic with you in you have a huuuge grin on your face
