Have you had the car remapped yet? I think that only costs a few hundred quid at Red.Dot,

Supersprint backbox - no gains in power but the noise .....You think a standard GTA sounds nice?

Re: Best £500 upgrade 156 GTA.
Get a Q2 diff fitted. Will now be 550 quid (price just went up 50 quid) but the best and most important upgrade for any GTA. It transforms the car. Then suspension, then exhaust and a remap if you feel you need it.
Cheers,
Nigel

Forgot to say welcome by the way. Do a search on "Q2" and check out the stream of rave reviews.

Unfortunately you can't do a search for Q2 as it doesn't have enough letters..
Best use Google, search for Q2 and tell it to only return results from Alfaowner.com

Oh Christ yeah! Forgot all about the Q2.
Give Autolusso a call and see if they can give you a good price,

Re: Best £500 upgrade 156 GTA.
Best upgrade you can give your car ...
Driver training.
Go book a session with someone like ridedrive (all police instructors) and you will learn how to get the best out of with you have... I'm about to to go on this years bit of driver training - I do something each year to ensure I'm not picking up bad habits...
Best thing about it - you take it with you when you change car
If you can get the Q2 done as well for that price - all the better.
SImes.

Re: Best £500 upgrade 156 GTA.
Q2, we do sill have a couple left at the old price so it is still possible to get done for £500 but you will have to be quick
I also think the Performance friction pads make a huge difference

I know the performance friction pads (like most other track/fast road pads) give you more consistent braking, and work a lot better than standard pads do when they are hot, but do they also give you more braking power? As in they 'bite' better on the disc? Would this lead to faster disc wear? I note from TB's review of your PF pads that he didn't note any disc wear from the PF pads over a lot of miles, but something like DS3000s eat standard discs like they're made of chocolate..
I was shocked when you told me your 156 Q2 had the 305mm set-up on, it seemed to have a lot more braking power than the GTA I drove with the 330mm set-up, which was on standard pads.

Weekend toy: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, BMC CDA, decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

That is because the standard pads are made of wood coated with dog poo

They aren't half! Felt like God himself put his finger on the bonnet and gave quite a press..
Did you notice the buttons for the leccy windows? The passenger button one winds down the drivers window and vice versa..

Re: Best £500 upgrade 156 GTA.
If your car is around 4 years old or older, and it hasn't been done yet, I would get the cambelt changed.
The Q2 isn't much use if your car is stuck in a garage having its engine rebuilt

The PF pads have been (and still are) phenomenal on my car (305mm). Ned fitted braided brake hoses and replaced the bake fluid with higher spec at the same time. Don't know about disc wear yet, I'll let you know.

Nigel

Ah, that explains the dents in mine ever since I had the PF pads fitted!
