147 GTA timing belt

Hello,
Would it be a good idea to get the timing belt changed on my Jan 05 GTA? It's only done 12K miles however I have heard of a few premature snaps? any info would be much appreciated!

Personally, I would definitely get it changed in January 2009. I might get it changed earlier if I started to feel a bit nervous about it.

Mine is a March 05 model, with 19k on the clock, and I intend to get it replaced next year.
I have read loads of threads on here of belts going, but they seem to be a couple of years older than ours and in the 40 to 50k mile bracket!
If in doubt, I would suggest getting it done!
Hope this helps!
I do agree, it does concern me though!

Re: 147 GTA timing belt

Mine went at 4 years 11 months and 51k miles - so 4 years would probably be a sensible time to change.

Re: 147 GTA timing belt

mines in at this very moment getting its belts done. (37k, 4 years). Either you pay for it now or the next buyer of your car hammers you down on price cause he'll have to get it done. Either way, its gonna cost you. The added benefit of you paying for it is the fact that you can relax knowing its done and you wont have a £3k bill if it snaps.
Actually my mechanic called me earlier to tell me the timing is slightly off on my car for reasons unknown. Expect it to be a bit quicker now!
