3.2L timing belt tensioner

Can someone lead me to a link for changing the timing belt on a 3.2L, mainly how to adjust timing tensioner.
The 3.0L version 24V tensioner is N/A and I am wanting to see if the newer style tensioner will fit on a 3.0L 24V motor.
I have a feeling it will but I would like a good link to how to change and adjust the tensoner with pictures if possible.
Thanks for your help.

Re: 3.2L timing belt tensioner

The later 24v motors with the thermostat on the opposite side of the block have a very different cambelt set up. There are loads of pics of the belt setup here:

Its identical externally to a 3.2 but I've rebuilt a 3.2 GTA engine here:

Thanks chris, exactly what I was looking for. I do understand the difference in the setup but I think for the future we need to find a set up that will take place of this older 24V tensioner that is N/A. It almost looks like it would fit perfect actually. Holes look like they will line up and the length of the tensioner looks almost perfect too.

Thanks again., lots of help.

Thanks for the comment. Yes it does. But most people don't even know what Alfa Romeo is. LOL!! Idiots!

Let us know how you get on? I reckon a few people here will be interested to, like Alfaspence for a start :

Judging by the limited stuff I've read here I think the older set is not that reliable.....

If we are talking old (164 type) 3ltr 24v motor, the new type will not fit! (well it might, but you will lose drive to your oil pump!)
The gear under the exhaust cam, right bank, used to drive the distributor and oil pump on the old 12v units... When Alfa fitted the dohc heads and went over to motronic, they ditched the dizzy, but retained the oil pump and drive assy
The later generation use a chain driven pump? (can't remember )

No worries. The last resort is to make it into a manually adjusted tensioner by drilling it out the bottom and adding a screw.

I talked with the Manufacturer last week, (TSUBAKI) and they are N/A from them either. But the Ferrari uses a similar one.
This set-up is not as reliable as the newer but the newer uses that cheapo mechanical tensioner made in Canada which is similar to the ones ALFA made the NA market use on the 12V that replaced the fantastic hydraulic tensioner.
But a lot of newer vehicles use this style. The only thing that is better about the new setup is the rear cam wrap around.
The bearing is still available though, so good news there.
Not sure why FIAT would stop production on such a crucial item??

Thats not the usual opinion on this gadget that tends to leak onto the belt and erode it!

Maybe its the climate in the UK that doesnt like the oil pressuirsed widget.

No, just need to know he trick to keep it from leaking. The shaft seal is the problem and some simple silicone with a new seal keeps it from leaking. trust me the Mechanical they made us all go to is worse than the hydraulic. What a piece of garbage. made in the same factory as the newer 24V tensioners.

But lets not get off topic too much here.
