Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

It's funny there should be a post about this GTA. I've literally just been speaking to the dealer about it. There has been a handful of people in to see it but no interest in buying as yet. I'm going to have a look on Saturday (if it is still there of course). It's got three stamps in it's service history. One from a dealer and two independants. Although it's only done 21k should the cambelt be changed due to it being 5 years old?

I was gonna look at it when I get back from my hols too, if it's gone then so be it! Personally, I'd have the belt changed for peace of mind.

No point risking it whatsoever.

Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

Hi,

Although not new to this forum I am new to contributing to it!

I was just reading this thread and realised it's talking about the car that I made a 200 mile round trip to take a look at last Saturday!

I currently have an 02 plate 147 1.6 TS Lusso but want to take the plunge to GTA ownership whilst I'm still young and carefree ...

This GTA is cheap for a reason!!! It's at a volkswagen garage and I was told that it had been part exchanged by the previous owner for a VW Eos ( )!

The car needs a lot of work doing to it cosmetically, lacquer is coming off the roof because of bird mess I suspect, alloys are kerbed, lots of scratches and stone chips, and some pretty handsome car park dents in both doors!! Interior was also badly worn, quite simply the car had not been looked after, why????

Still had a test drive, and dear god it's got me hooked on wanting a GTA now!

So... that is my first contribution, hopefully it was helpful to someone ...

Very helpful... Welcome to the site. You should be able to pick up a nice GTA though, the prices have started to drop..

Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

It's helpful to me because I was feeling a bit sick about having shelled out considerably more for a higher milage GTA about a month ago

Still every extra day you can get driving it has got to be worth something

Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

I was off there tomorrow morning. May reconsider

...but I suppose thinking about it there had to be a reason it is that price so I suppose cosmetic damage is not that much of a worry

Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

Nope, they wouldn't give me a price until I could confirm to them that I definitely wanted the car ... Hmm.

I did enquire during the week (on the phone) to GTA Italian Car sales, they have a black GTA on autotrader, they said that from my description of my car, they would offer £3,500 p/ex on the GTA.

Re: 147 GTA, How Cheap!!!

EFCmandan- No I didn't have my car detailed, I try and give a good handwash everyweek, and polish it regularly! But thanks for the comment-
In relation to this thread! Phew, I'm sorry people have had a wasted journey, but it makes me feel a bit better! In that the car is a bit of dog-not that people have had wasted journeys! Done it too many times myself!

I got offered £4500 by Alfa and £4000 yesterday by another garage for my 2.0 TS (and they weren't fussed about the scrape on the side I stupidly did last week...got it booked in for 3 weeks time to get sorted for £200 so not too bad)....... so fairly happy with the part ex price so far.

Still not sure if I'm going to see it today or not. Might toss a coin

He was toying with the idea of buying a used M3 and said the dealers are falling over him to try and get him to buy one. A buyers market if ever there was one. Problem is, is that theres not many buyers about. People are sitting on their hands.

I guess we can factor in the "credit crunch" too. A good portion of the demographic that is going to want a GTA, is going to be mortaged up to the hilt with a home that may be far from giving that warm feeling of asset appreciation. People really are tightening their belts and, owners of wanton toys such as ours, are going to take a hit.
