Creaky squeaky dash

Just wondering if you chaps get this problem? I didnt have any dashboard creaks since I got the car last sept. Now in the last month, a couple have started to make themselves known and they are loud. I had a search through the forum and it has been suggested to loosen, lubricate and re-tighten the four bolts that attached the dash to the bulkhead. Did this yesterday along with a generous dose of silicon spray down the side of the dash that makes contact with windscreen. Not sure yet if it has worked but will let you all know.

Anyone else had similar probs? How did you resolve it? This is my second GTA and although the performance and personality is superb, the build quality (in true Alfa form) is not.

Our GT does it. Hope to tackle it before we take her to the Mille Miglia in May.

bugger. Hasn't worked at all. This really is a **** boiler for me. Alfa still have no clue when it comes to putting a car together. When I push my hand against the dash, the whole thing creaks.

Re: Creaky squeaky dash

How about some velcro tape (the soft side), fixed a creaky instrument panel from early on, after silicon spray failed to.

Re: Creaky squeaky dash

I have a 159 and HAD an annoying squeaky/creaking noise which I thought was coming from within the dash behind the radio area but after reading many entries on this site, a common thread appeared!....the windscreen! I then checked the glass and from just pressing it from the inside repeatedly, there it was. That squeaky noise. On the advice of many members I bought some silicone spray and sprayed all along under the rubber seal on the outside and hey-presto! NO noise.
Thank you to one and all.

Re: Creaky squeaky dash

Ohwell/Simon - well known issue with GT and 147 and p*sses me off. Does it sound as though its coming from the area where the A-pillar/dash meets (seems worse in hot weather or if blowing hot air) - if so take out carefully the air vent that runs under the windscreen - its the bolt on the off side (nearest A-pillar) thats the issue - seems to be because its too short or because the rubber washer needs silcon lube. I have improved the situation by lubing the washer, adding another washer and tightening the bolt but it tends to come back within days. Going to try a longer bolt next.
