Alfa have now put the price of the Q2 up, it is now £50 more, I was expecting it to be more than that.

There also should be no problem getting parts as all the parts are here in the UK, no need to get anything from Italy.

Don’t worry they are probably just trying to work out how to do it

Ned
Haven't paid for it yet, but got it in writing! So I'm happy, infact that would be an understatment!Q2 here we come! I just hope it's as good as everyone on here says it is!

Probably the bean-counters/economists worked out that putting the price up by £50 would earn them a lot more money, but not put too many people off buying it..

Sorry I meant why have Alfa hiked up the cost of the Q2? - just becuase more people are buying it? Hardly a cost justification imo!

Profit, pure and simple really.

But it wasn't really designed to be a performance modification that everyone could buy to retro-fit to older cars. I'm surprised it was priced so cheap in the first place really, no other manufacturer does anything like that.

Re: Another GTA Q2'd courtesy of Autolusso

Yes, Ned showed me the Q2 before he fitted it to my car and it is a lot of engineering for not much money. Considering a replacement moulding for the washer jets on the front bumper costs 28 quid, 250 for the Q2 is an amazing bargain. It's still a bargain at 300 IMO.

Cheers,

Nigel

OK, I get you, the Q2 diff was and still is ridiculously cheap for what it is and I was expecting a price rise but I was expecting it to be more than £50, if you take a close look at one the is a lot of engineering that goes in to it.

It is as good as everyone says it is, if they get stuck you can always refer them to my friend Jamie’s web site where is instructions on how to do it

Fitting an Alfa Romeo Q2 Differential

There is no point doing what other dealers do and phone us and ask us how to do it

Its still the bargain of the century compared to the very similarly performing Quaife Diff

Fantastic! Thanks very much for the advice, they have recently fitted one to a GT, so they should have an idea of what they are doing!
At least with them being a Main Dealer I will have some come back if it isn't right!
Can't wait though!!!!

Have they? And they also need to get parts from Italy (talking from where the sun does not shine)

We have had dealers phone us asking how to do it, they get told to do one
Anyway, how can you say you get some kind of “come back” being a Main Dealer when 50% of dealers have closed over the last year, personally I think you would be better off with any work being done by a good independent like us or Alfaworkshop, we have both been around a long time and are not planning on going way where

We are fitting about one Q2 a day

Ned, you have clearly taken offence to my last post, it wasn't a go at Independents, and I apologise if that's how it read.
If I had one nearby I would probably use them for this, but the fact of the matter is I haven't, and the guys at my Alfa garage, can't seem to do enough for me at the moment, in relation to my comment on come back, even if the garage did shut, I could contact Alfa themselves, but to be fair the dealers only arrived in Shrewsbury sometime last year, so I can't see them closing just yet.
Plus my car has a full Alfa service history, and we all know that some people, and I don't necessarily agree with them, like the fact that it's always been looked after by a main dealer.
Regardless of this, thanks for your comments (I'm being Genuine,e-mails can so easily be misconstrude) and the links to your mates website, I have printed it off, and I'll see if the mechanics want it.
And again apologies for any misunderstanding or offence, if you come and open a Independents in Shrewsbury, I'll use you!

Re: Another GTA Q2'd courtesy of Autolusso

Bookfair, don't think Ned took offence, he's just been on the wrong side of dealers for the past few years, what with him stealing loads of their new sales and now him moving in on their servicing side of things. When I was there getting my Q2 Ned had a 156 wagon up on the ramps with the engine in bits, which was supposedly rebuilt by a dealer only a few thousand miles previously. Having seen inside that engine myself I'm not suprised Ned's poor opinion of dealers has been renewed!

If I wasn't 180 miles away I'd be taking my car to AutoLusso for everything.. Can't fault the service, they have engineers and mechanics in their employ, rather than "parts-fitters". 110% recommendation from me.

Now Driving: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, Tarox Sport Japan grooved brakes, BMC CDA, GTA inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!
