Re: What's it worth - 156 GTA SW - 53plate - 41k miles

Bought my GTA SW from a reputable dealer, low milage, break upgrade, excellent condition, belts and service just done, etc etc. Came with 1yrs warranty which helps peace of mind, but it all bumps the price up. Haggled the price down due to the market, but there's only so much they'll shift.
As said, E-bay prices are at the very bottom end of what you can pay, and SW's are a seperate market. I think if you can get a good car private at around 10k and dealer around 11k, that's a pretty fair price.

A good GTA will set you back proper money, especially the SW GTA which is incredibly rare.
A looked after, well maintained, upgraded (brakes, Q2 etc) car with belts changed, metal impellared water pump, decent tyres (says so much about the previous owner) is the one to go for, you'll know it's been loved.
I honestly get so Feked off when people keep saying 6-8k on ebay
The cars are worth more than that and if you want a good one be prepared to pay it.
If you want a 'rough' car that needs work doing then by all means pay little up front and then more in the long run.

Quite right. Glass's guide is just rubbish when it comes to GTAs. I paid 8,700 for my GTA a year ago (53 K miles, 52 reg), which was a good prcie at the time. It had a full main dealer service history but it needed 1500 quid of spending on it to get it really sorted (and that's before Q2s at al). So enthusiast owned ones will have a bit of a premium on them, as will SWs. There's also a big element of supply and demand - prices can temporarily look low if there are several for sale at one time and some sellers are going for a quick sale.

Cheers,

Nigel

Is the car local in the n/east?

That type of car on a forecourt up here will attract a large price tag, doesn't mean to say he will sell it!

I recall a 156 TS in king st,was there for yonks, eventually sold for the going rate about 6 month later

I do know the trade round here, get in touch if you want for further help.

Thanks for the offer Derek....unfortunatley the vehicle in question is not on our doorstep it is in London-town or near enough! LOL
I know that 156TS at KingStreetMotors - silver saloon....looked at it myself...was rough-ish though and Jonathon was after too much money as usual.
Hope to meet you on one of the AONS meets one day in the not too dim & distant, and if you see a 156GTA-SW on your travels in our neck of the woods give me a shout please.
