Q2 and GTA Selespeed
The fitment of Q2 to a GTA is it seems very desirable indeed.
Now I have just ordered one of those Park lane Selespeed GTA's and was wondering if there are any issues fitting to a Selespeed equipped car. EB spares says for 'six speed manual only', now I know the Sillyspeed is a manual moved by robotic means (when it works )
Is there some reason why Q2 diffs would not work with a Selespeed?
Hope there isn't.

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
David C said it would fit in my car, also a 156 GTA Selespeed, so i bought it, and a new valeo clutch too..
Check the Q2 posts, there's plenty of answers on this.. should cost about 300 pounds including the bearings. Call EB Spares..

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
Excellent, thanks Stephen. Car hasn't arrived yet but it will now get Q2 along with Koni FSD's and Eibach springs, rude not to.

I think you're right, gearbox is the same, its just the clutch operation and ECU thats different, the mechanicals of the gearbox is the same so the Q2 should fit no bother

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
It's Ferryman's fault, sounds like he has the ideal set up for the kind of driving I do.
Car not due to arrive till 16th May, though possibly will be sooner as this is a tad pessimistic according to Park lane. Currently I am using the wife's fortwo (with flappies) and have been since ditching a miserable Colt CZT in May of last year.
The fortwo has been a hoot but it's gonna be a shock to have all that power i can tell you. My 14th Alfa, my last was a 1750 Spider 10 years ago.
It's good to be back

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
We have fitted loads of Q2 diff’s but we have not fitted any to GTA Selespeeds, I think it is the same but without looking to be honest, I don’t know.
Hello & Welcome to AO by the way

careful when you get it with the first and second gear changes... and remember the car has no limiter on the gearbox like a Q system, so if you gear down to 2 instead of 3, you will over-rev the motor and over-stress the gearbox. Let the car do the downchanges for you initially until you learn the system and how to drive it. City mode is silly in the GTA, i find it holds the gear too long, that's where the Q System is cleverer, but i hardly use it. Maybe if all my fingers were broken, then i'd use Silly mode...
Also with the selespeeds, the paddles wear out, especially the + one cos most owners just use the paddle to change up and let the car change down itself. I drive mine properly and do all the changes myself, the blipping of the throttle when you do it is most gratifying .. and the power of the GTA, will put a smile on Alfisti's face...
check also that it does not judder on pull away in 1 cos mine does abit, so i bought a new valeo clutch to replace it. You never really know how the guy before you drove it... you know, and check selespeed oil level only when the car is cold..
Congratulations on your GTA and welcome to selespeed, the gear change that makes manual feel so outdated.... it's just so much faster, plus you don't need to heel and toe... the selespeed computer does it for you...
Congratulations again man!!!!!

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
what he said, the GTA sele is the most misunderstood and unfairly maligned alfa offering ever . . . . I love mine, it is fast, reliabe and makes me sound like a much better driver than I am !!

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
Thanks guys, driving the smart - believe it or not! has pushed me over to the 'dark side' or flappy paddledom.
The smart also changes down when you don't bother but generally I try to second guess it. Of course you get no heel & toe blip with a smart.
The GTA I have ordered has been sat unused for a couple of years, 10 miles on the clock. May be issues due to that but at the price I got it you won't hear me complaining.
I understand the selespeed on the GTA is a very different beast to that on other selespeed Alfas, more akin to Cambiocorsa. We shall see, either way I can't wait.

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
Just heard from Park lane (importer of my 156 Sele) that they will match Autolusso and get the Q2 fitted for £500. To say I am pleased is a gross understatement, when I pick it up it will have FSD's/Eibach Pro kit and Q2 already fitted.
Logistics made it impossible to get any of this done (Autolusso would have been my first option) elsewhere, but thanks to the excellent service at Park lane it appears I will have my 'ideal' car when I do finally get to pick it up after it's arrival.
All I need now is a strut brace, a remap, armourfend,........!!!

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
It's the Eibach Pro spring Kit which goes particularly well with the Koni FSD's. I believe it lowers by 30mm, though I could be wrong on that. Strangely all this goes a long way to stop the GTA bottoming out - despite it being lower. It's a black art this suspension design mullarkey!

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
Well, in my case I went for the FSDs and Eibachs because coilovers appear to be overcomplex for what I want. I got concerned by postings from people that were unable to get the right settings on coilovers and, as I don't intend doing a lot of track days, the FSDs and Eibachs seemed a great way of improving ride and handling without the hassle and expense of coilovers. They were recommended by Ned at Autolusso and they have turned out great for me.
Cheers,
Nigel

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
Exactly the same for me. I will do a trackday once every Blue moon so I don't believe I will see any benefit from coilovers on the road. Also if I had the chance to be fiddling around with a clickstop adjustment I would never be satisfied, this removes the temptation.

Re: Q2 and GTA Selespeed
the eibach pro stainless seemed to be non adjustable height only, not like the KW V2's . . .
I am contemplating your setup with the Konis & eibach springs, or the Non-adjustable coilovers from eibach as well
