Carbone Lorraine Brake Pads.... Wow

I just fitted RC6 Carbonne Lorraine brakepads to my GTA. If you have the 330mm brakes the code number for the pads is 4066. Sorry, dunno the number for the 305mm brake disc pads..

Anyway was driving home yesterday after leaving the mechanic, and braked to stop at a stop sign, the car came to a dead stop about 5m before where it would have stopped normally..,had to go into first and pull up to the stop sign.. thought this was strange and drove some more and then braked hard to see, and oh my .... these are the best brakes i have ever used.... period . Then i remembered what the salesman said... press lightly on the pedal otherwise....

And better yet guys, there's a stronger pad set called RC8.... they're even harsher. The 330mm equipped cars use the same brake pads as a Mitsubishi Evolution 8 and 9 or Subaru Impreza WRX (the ej 25, 2.5litre version.. dunno if its the 6 or 7) so you can get them from your local rally shop, cos i doubt any Alfa dealer will stock them..

Only downside, they squeak as you slow down from 30km/h to 0.. otherwise they are quiet the rest of the time, and the squeak is not loud so i actually dont mind. I'm really impressed, and the best part is they cost me GBP 85.40 at todays exchange rate, which is the same price for stock Alfa brakes at Gargash (our dealer here in the UAE).. out of interest what do you guys in the UK and Europe pay on average for stock GTA brake pads...

Anyone else used these frenchie brake pads...

p.s. the box says "Exclusivement reserve a la competition... (For racing use only)"......

Re: Carbone Lorraine Brake Pads.... Wow

Their pads seem to be very well priced and a wide range of applications including all Alfa pads - did you get them from local supplier in UAE?

pads for alfa romeo 147 3,2 gta

Would make an interesting alternative to DS2500's and about half the price.

What about the brake dust? - any problems with the metal content of the pads

Still setting in, and i am really resisting winding up the car too much.. so far there seems to be little brake dust compared to the stock pads( have done about 150km, so really initial phases), but the grip... oh my goodness, it feels like i got new calipers and bigger disks or something. Really caught me off guard yesterday...I'm really impressed. I'm watching the discs and will keep you posted on how they look and set in. Will also take off the tyre over the weekend and take some pics and post..

Looks like the Frenchie's know what they're doing....Awesome, Awesome.. will recommend them to all the trackday guys i know, for whatever track basher they have, be it a pug or a volvo..
