Re: super unleaded

Im in agreement with the others. I ahve tried the other stuff and got slightly better mpg but stick to Tescos 95 (and 65k miles and going strong!) Touches wood quickly

Re: super unleaded

You won't notice any difference, as the ECU assumes any fuel that doesn't pink/knock is 95 octane. It cannot detect that the fuel is of a higher octane rating than 95, so it cannot advance the timing.

To get any extra power out by using 97, 99 or higher octane you would need to have your car remapped for it..

The cleaning additives in high quality fuel might help keep the injectors and fuel lines cleaner though, preserving the original horses for longer..

I'm the odd one out then. I only ever put super in as she definately prefers it.

Is your management still standard though?

Re: super unleaded

I exclusively use Shell V Power as I suppose it has that placebo effect of making me think the car goes faster.

Also, I thought the additives would preserve the engine. Shame the additives didn't work on the cambelt

Re: super unleaded

Tried it for a while - never noticed any change - except it cost more! I stick to Esso fuel - but would prefer Shell if I had a station near me!

Re: super unleaded

I run the Montreal on super unleaded as it definately needs it, but the GTA on regular. The way fuel and car tax prices are going, I'm glad it doesn't need to run on super as well!!!

Re: super unleaded

I only ever put in vpower, the previous owner only ran on vpower so don't want to change anything as she really runs "creamy". Plus you get a ferrari model car with every 30 litres of the expensive stuff! Woohoo, already got the full collection and now collecting doublers!

Ditto!

I have to say, I personally have noticed a difference...wether it is in my mind or not, I don't know! lol

Re: super unleaded

Used both in mine, can't say I have noticed any changes in performance between them, saying that I do tend to mix them around.
Maybe if I ran her on Vpower for a week or two I would see a difference if not in performance certainly in the wallet.

Re: super unleaded

Mi GTA only drinks 98 fuel, and the same to my TS.

I don´t worry if i don´t notice any difference, but I think 98 will preserv better our engines.
