Are you sure that’s what it needs? Simple job, takes 2 people to make it easy.

If you know how to do it, perhaps you could enlighten the original poster.

Re: Bleeding a 147 GTA clutch

Remove battery, tray and air intake.
Remove bleed nipple cover and bleed as you would brakes until all air/ black fluid is out of the system.
Oh and dont do what I did and try to do it on your own - even with one of those one man job kits it still draws air back in to the system and took me about 1/2 am hr to pump it back out again
Check out Gazza82's website - but bleed by turning the bleed nipple and dont remove the feedpipe!!

Yes you need a new clutch, the clutches get very heavy once they have done a few miles. Sometimes the fingers that hold the release bearing on break off with the pressure from the forks and punch a hole in the gearbox casing into the diff. This is what I think is contributing towards some of the diff failures.

Re: Bleeding a 147 GTA clutch

Checked the gbox oil level appears to be over the max but it was warm when i checked it. Light brown colour didnt look too dirty. The car has only done 40k could the cluth be going at that low miles? Has a low bite.

Re: Bleeding a 147 GTA clutch

I've got a new clutch and it still needs bleeding. Diff went so clutch was replaced at the same time. Clutch needed bleeding from the day I got it from Veloces.... was great after the new clutch was fitted (not by Veloces)but soon reverted to the old feel after about a week. It seems to take a certain amount of ait then levels out. Only the final inch of pedal travel actually does anything

Odd so many need doing..... never had it on any hydraulic clutch before.

Re: Bleeding a 147 GTA clutch

I think I may be reading more into my problem than it actually is. My clutch works fine even with a couple of inches of depression. It is firm but I dont really know if its normal or not, compared to my Alfa 156 it is heacy but the 156 is cable I think so it will be different.
