autodelta carbon intake
Those of you who have it. how are you finding it? Was it a worthwhile upgrade? Its bloody pricey for what is just a bit of carbon tubing. Still, I think I'd like to get one. Does it make the car much louder at idle and/or when revving? I really dont want a boomy noise from the car. Im too old for that nonsense now

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I find it good mate, its expensive for what it is but if you are a bit of a carbon ***** then its all worth it..
I read the threads on the intake but bought one anyway, when it came i checked the inner bore and mine was smooth and nicely finished i guess each one is different.
Seems like a good enough piece of kit, the finish is very durable, i cleaned the engine bay for the first time in ages and it came up like new with a bit of wax on it.
I honestly don't know if it made any difference noise wise or performance wise. It won't make it boomy. With it and a cat back ragazzon exhaust its not a loud car even when at WOT above 6k rpm, all you hear is the truly beautiful sound that emanates from an Alfa V6 and thats definitely not intrusive in any way.

Re: autodelta carbon intake
Cheers Phil. I've been looking back on old threads and noticed you can get similar (asso gtaline) from Japan so I'm exploring that route to see if its worthwhile. Certainly the item is cheaper but after delivery costs etc it may work out the same. If nothing else its looks good and tidies up the engine bay nicely. i do hate that big plastic kidney that alfa sling on top of their v6's!

No problem mate just my thoughts on it. If the Asso one is anything like the Jap carbon fibre parts that i have bought it will be perfect.
Just watch out for import duty and VAT. Sometimes they get through clear of any customs charges but more often than not you get charged for them.
Completely agree about the resonator box it looks bloody awful.

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I would like an ASSO. If there's enough interest of 10 or more I'd be willing to undertake a group buy.

In order of your qs:
Great - better lower end torque (which I really wanted) and better noise (much throatier)
Yes, worthwhile
Yes, it's expensive. Others have cut off the resonator boxes and Isoponed over the holes. But it looks nice.
It's not boomy, just gives the engine a bit more roar. Makes it even more exciting IMO (and I'm old so I don't want to be a boy racer).
Cheers,
Nigel

Re: autodelta carbon intake
great. I haven't heard back from flatout yet. I'd be happy to organise the group buy. How to do it? I give people my paypal details and then order up after I have received x amount of orders?
If anyone else knows a way of getting hold of these items, let me know and I will organise.
Looks like we have two so far. Any other takers? I would think if we have 5 orders or more it should get us a discount.

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I'd be interested in a group buy if the price is good!
(Just realised this post kind of makes my mind up on whether or not to keep my car! (see my other thread...))

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I'd be interested in an Asso pipe if the price is right. Not interested in an Autodelta one though.
How much does the Asso pipe retail at anyway?

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I've heard back from the company and they are quoting £15 for delivery. looks like the part retails around £95. I've asked for a quote to deliver 5 and 10. Looking promising.
I'm very hesitant to give that lot in autodelta £188 for a carbon pipe. IMO its a rip-off and out of principle I'd rather get it somewhere else.

Re: autodelta carbon intake
I would definately be interested at £110.
I've only used Autodelta once and my one comments would be that the service was good but they were also very expensive.
