Re: How the Audi boys percieve us.

I am doing it just for kicks

Plus, I'll love the moment I tell the Audi salesguy that I'll buy a Maserati GranTurismo instead

Lets be honest here if you know anything about cars you will rate the 147 GTA.

Its an awsome piece of kit.

Re: How the Audi boys percieve us.

Good find.

I think it was a pretty fair and mostly affectionate view by the Audi lads. Some negatives but people are allowed their opinions.

Nice to see one guy slap down the silly old TG story about its torque steer problems.

Perfection is not cool anyway.

Having had an original cooking A4 from new for several years - I couldn't wait to get rid of it. Seats gave me a numb b*m after a long drive. Cambelt change needed the whole front of car removing = very expensive. I certainly wasn't pleased with the frequency of drop link failures or the dealer's initial suggestion thatthe old bedstead type squeaking at low speeds was not a problem until VAG finally owned up to the poor design reliability.

That said I'd love an RS4 Avant or maybe S8 but I wouldn't really want another model. Beautifully built, a bit over-priced despite the good-ish residuals but devoid of driver involvement and any soul.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Under the hood, you and me are the same (Lightning McQueen)

Anyway, didn't it 'torque steer' its way round the Top Gear test track faster than the E46 M3?

Did it? It's so long ago. I'm at work but it may be worth a you tube search?

Re: How the Audi boys percieve us.

The Audi-Sport Forum is indeed friendly. As always, there are one or two users that have an axe to grind but they seem to have left recently and bought BMWs instead.

I have been regularly lurking on the Audi-Sport Forum for a while. In fact, since I ordered my new Audi S3.

I would have loved another Alfa (I was hoping that the 149GTA would be available by now) but I work for a Germany company and have been offered a German company car and the S3 is the only car in the range that I have any interest in and comes anywhere close to the GTA in performance / fun.

This does mean that my 2004 147GTA is for sale Alfa Romeo : REDUCED! - Alfa 147 GTA 3.2V6 If anyone is interested.
