Depends how bad the traffic is - If you are not moving and the engine is running then you are getting 0 miles to the gallon at that point. Therefore very slow & stop traffic will produce very low figures.

The only traffic I deal with regularly is Stirling City rush (Not much to it) but I have seen mpg figures of just over 10!

Doesn't sound good really does it?

OTOH I never seem to get more than about 25 on an A-road run, average about 18 on the way to work (short trip on congested but moving A-roads/v slow motorway) so I'd not be worried about 10 in town especially if it's all stop start and nothing much higher than second gear.

155-190 miles from a tank in town - sounds about right to me.

Re: 147GTA Fuel Consumption

i've consistently had 300miles a tank since getting my 147GTA (filled up once with 62.40 liters..close! :P)....mixture of rush hour traffic, cruising (to work) and the odd 40mile blat across north wales in 3rd gear :P

I'm pretty happy with that, i have alot of fun in the car...but its the drive to work in the traffic that really hammers the MPG

Re: 147GTA Fuel Consumption

I allways seem to register about 18-19 MPG avg. A tank will get me about 220 miles ish.

I don't hit heavy traffic on the way to work, but I am generous with the right foot evey now and again!

I'd be gutted if i got 10mpg even in very heavy traffic. But from what others say i don't think it's much to worry about.

Re: 147GTA Fuel Consumption

I drove to the dump and back today from cold, got 23mpg (indicated). Last night cruising home on the M3 got in excess of 30mpg. However the needle seems to sink rather fast, after being accustomed to a diesel sipping JTD it takes a bit of getting use to again. My old Stilo Abarth 2.4 would do about 270 from a tank and about 24mpg so this is pretty similar, mind fuel was about 40% cheaper then.

You are brave venturing out on a bank holiday wasn't much traffic then judging by your MPG

The dump is about 2 miles away and was dead. With a temperature of 5C there wasn't much bank holiday traffic, normally would expect the dump to be rammed but with the bitterly cold weather people are tucked up in doors. One of the most depressing bank holidays I can remember. Had plans to rebuild the Strada Abarth this weekend but the weather has put a stop to that.

I second that, I get about 300 to 340km in town, but then i spank her hard all the time and with the ASR off....., it's just impossible to drive her slowly, the noise is intoxicating, and the half second gearchanges at 7000rpm give me goosebumps everytime ......much to my wife's disapproval of course , and i know i should care but petrol is so cheap in the Middle East, it just does not encourage any form of responsibility with regards to maximising mpg......!!!! ahhhhhhh!!!
