Re: Fk Coilovers

Hi Pabloss, I've not heard of this brand, but I am also looking to upgrade. You only need coil overs if you want to fiddle with the ride height. You could just go for a normal lowered spring and uprated damper set?

If I was fitting coil overs I might bite the bullet and buy the Autodelta kit for £700ish plus vat. I assume it is this set you are looking at?? - which is almost as much as the Autodelta system anyway -

FK / Silverline Coilover Kits / Alfa Romeo 147 (Type. 937) GTA From: 03/02 > / Euro Performance Car Parts

The guys at Europerformance recommended this set to me as being perfect for the job and is not coil overs: -

KW / Suspension Kits / 147; (937) 1.9JTD, GTA From Years: 03/04- / Euro Performance Car Parts

If you buy the FK set up - let me know how you get on!

Re: Fk Coilovers

I've got FK coilovers on my 156 V6, they are low and hard but you can tell that they are damping the bumps rather than the chassis absorbing them. Ride is smoother on most roads than my 2.4 JTD Veloce.

I've heard bad things about the Autodelta coilovers, they've had a lot of problems with them leaking the fluid and needing to be replaced. On the otherhand, I've heard KW coilovers are very good.

Re: Fk Coilovers

I was under the impresssion that Autodelta coilovers were just FK ones rebadged. Not sure how true this is tho. I'll also be purchasing c/overs in the near future.

Autodelta coilovers are Intrax (.nl) rebranded.

FK are manufactured in the far east and are therefore much cheaper. I have not heard any hard reviews of them but they are often dismissed because they are low cost and from the far east.

Re: Fk Coilovers

Given some reports on here about the longevity of the basic Sportline AD coilovers, I really would recommend the far more sophisticated adjustable Sportline Corses instead.
These dont really bear any relation to the basic AD Sportline coilovers and are a completely different design in almost every way. Stainless steel instead of galvanised, race style external reservoirs, huge range of easy damping adjustment from around to town to extreme competiton tyre use on track . They are in a different league to the basic AD coilovers.

They are the single item that has most transformed my car, and made me decide to keep it for a long time..

I know several folks with these who are all very happy.

I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later

Re: Fk Coilovers

Worth spending the extra for adjustable damping to tailor the firmness as well as ride height to your individual preference.

Can't really go wrong with either the AD/Intrax HDA, KW V2/3 or Bilstein B16.

Re: Fk Coilovers

I have just ordered FK coilovers from Rimstyle.com. I only use my GTA as a weekend car so they should be fine in terms of longevity. Lets see how it handles when they are fitted....
