147 GTA Gearbox whine

Hi my GTA seems to be whining slightly in 1,2nd,3rd,4th. It may of always been there and I have only just noticed. Its not really bad. Does any one else's whine?? Is it normal or should I worry??

There is a certain amount of transmission whine with this car - Alfa concentrated on developing lots of horsepower rather than ultimate refinement. A few noises don't hurt anyway - gives it that rorty edge!

Mine isn't especially quiet - it hasn't troubled me so I don't know if it's the box or the diff. So long as it has oil in it I'm fine. I'd be surprised if there was significant wear with 14k on the clock so I've put it down as one of those TADTS items, so beloved of dealers.

I've got a 147 1.6TS as a loan car, and the box and drive is much quieter than the V6. Really smooth motor too. Would highly reccomend the 1.6 Much better than the GTA as a commuter, with a sharper brake pedal response at lower speed if not at higher speeds. It has loads of better points than the GTA as a daily driver, BUT... it in no way can overweigh the plus points of the GTA OR the superior charachter.

hi g/box whine not a problem but we had sticky down shift when hot is real problem on my wifes 147 gta
18k(3 1/2 yrs) and on 2nd gearbox.
1st had problem at 5k replaced with alfa rebuilt box plus clutch,2nd at 16k new box clutch and flywheel from factory lucky i have 4/5th year warranty

Single helical gears meshing, whine? No real problem, but can be annoying.:
