Buying a used GT

Hi,

Just joined this forum. I am living in Dublin and am looking to buy a 04 GT Diesel. Have less than 10k sterling to spend. Obviously will be looking at higher mileage cars. Can anyone point out pitfalls, general problems on higher mileage cars?

cheers

Re: Buying a used GT

The Gt tends to be the least problematic of current Alfa models. The diesels are almost unburstable and the petrols only need to be checked for cam belt replacement at 36000 miles.

Best to avoid the Selespeeds.

Other than that the worst you really ever hear about them is the creaky tailgate.

At under £10k make sure you thoroughly check the service history as you would any car.

Re: Buying a used GT

See my thread on EGR Valve - seems quite common. Also the MAF can cause issues.

Apart from that a really decent motor !.....for resale try & find 17" rims & leather.
