New GT owner...

Morning all,

I picked up my 04 GT at the weekend. 60K on the clock, and am very pleased with it.

It's going back to my dealer though as the odometer is constantly flashing, although no other warning lights are on. I've tried turning the ignition off and on again and waiting for the electical checks to finish, and an "OK" appears on the central display........but the odometer is still flashing.

There's also another little problem with the passenger window. It goes down well enough, but it goes up in stages. I need to keep pressing the button (either passenger or driver side) to get the window to close fully. I read that holding the button down for ten seconds and then up for ten seconds completes a reset, but this does not seem to have worked. Could this be the check that's failing on startup and causing my odometer to flash ??

Thanks in advance for any answers........beautiful car though, I think I made six trips to the shop on Sunday after "forgetting" sugar, milk, etc etc......just another excuse !!!

Hello & welcome

The flashing odometer usually signals that the can bus is not getting a response from a piece of electrical equipment, probably a bad connection. With your windows get the dealer to update the software - I think the latest is version 19 now. In the meantime make sure you hold both buttons down.

Re: New GT owner...

Thanks for that link Chill. With regards to the passenger window, I didn't realise I had to hold both buttons down. Reset now done and passenger window working as it should. Thanks again.

My dealer is going to give me a ring about the flashing odometer. He needs to upgrade his software before he can sort anything out. I am awaiting his call.

Re: New GT owner...

Do you mind me asking how much you paid and what is the spec (engine, leather, BOSE etc.)

I'm in the market for a similar car now and would like to know what I can bargain a seller down to.

Oh, and all thes best!

Re: New GT owner...

Hi, I don't mind at all. It's a 1.9JTDm 16v with Alfatex and the standard (Blaupunkt I think) stereo, no parking sensors, 17" aloys, full service history. I paid 9.5k, and part ex'd my old car for 1200 quid. The dealer did a 60k service, two new front tyres, replaced two front suspension bushes, six months tax and an MOT. He just wasn't moving any more.

I did have a good look around on Autotrader, and you could get leather, and/or a lower milage car for this price, but this dealer was about a mile away from where I live. The next nearest on Autotrader was 40 plus miles away, so I went for the convenience of having the dealer around the corner.

Good luck in your search, it's a fantastic car.

ccovich, I like you was thinking of heading over to the UK for a GT but I just found one locally here in Kildare on a private sale.

Best of luck with your search.

Where are you living? I'm in Naas. I should be picking up the car later next week.

Only one car advertised in Ireland that is within my price range-I have seen and driven it, and while it is a decent price, and looks well, the mileage is a little high. I may go back for a second look. P.S. I'm after a JTD, there are probablt petrol versions that I could afford, but not interested.

I live in Maynooth and work in Naas/Newbridge. So I'm sure I'll see you around-which car did you buy? I think I've seen your 156 on adverts.ie, where I am currently selling my 147.
