Help connect +sat nav

We own a lovely GT no probs with it, love it etc. but the sat nav is ****e the tom tom software on my nokia n95 is better. It has the 2006/7 disc. does anybody know if the 2008 navteq disc at £97 is worth the outlay, ps looking at the average age of forumites for once in my life I'm above average.

I'm afraid the latest disk won't improve things - the connect Nav+ is old technology

Better off spending £100 on a TomTom, really.

Agreed with the above. The issue is not the information that comes on the disk but the software that runs the darn thing (I had it on my 147 and although very useful - I am a muppet with maps - it was not particularly handy nor smart)

Lick Re: connect +sat nav

Can the Navteq discs be copied? (for backup purposes of course) £97 seems a bit expensive considering TomTom is £100 and better. I have just bought a GT and it has the 2004/5 edition so badly need an upgrade. I know tom tom is better but seems like a waste having built in Sat Nav and buying another one. If anyone would like to run me off a copy for 'backup' purposes it would be greatly appreciated and I would see them right for it.

Re: connect +sat nav

They can be copied, yes - but they are very sensitive to types of writers, types of disks and software used to copy with.

At least, thats for the VW system...might need to do a search for successful 'combos'
