I am looking for a second wheel set for the winter.
I know that the standard 7.5x17" GTA wheel has 35mm offset, what is the ET range I should be looking for to avoid rubbing and the use of spacers?
A lot of 17x7.5" ET35 wheels simply don't clear the GTA brembo brake calipers due the design of the back of the spokes. Unfortunately there is no spec for this when buying wheels, so unless you buy something that you know fits on a GTA, it is going to be something of a risk.
Do you have 330mm brakes or 305mm brakes? If you have 305mm brakes, the 16" GTV phase 2 "smoothie" wheel works well, has just enough clearance for the caliper and you can stick on some nice cheap 205/55/16 winter tyres. You also need GTV wheel bolts to fit a set of these wheels.
you can run an offset as low as ET25 but they stick out 10mm further but do clear.. the issue with other wheels is very few run 5 x 98 pattern and the centre bore needs to be correct as that part is vital or you need to run a set of spigots.

The GTA/GT 3.2 17" Multipsokes fit and clear the 330s. If its the earlier GTA 17" multis, the caliper to bracket bolts need to be modified(socket head trimmed down) The later ones, no issues
Also any GTV V6 17" alloy wheel will clear the 330s.(teledial and later split spoke rims as on the 3.2) Better so than GTA ones ironicaly. (They run an ET30.5 setup if I remember correctly) I've tried both of these on GTAs in the past with no issues
