creaking brake pedal

Perhaps not specific to a gta but my gta has a slight but very annoying creak as you brake gently. 'Don't break gently then!' you may say. However, under spirited driving, its noticeable as Im on and off the brakes quick but trundling along in slow traffic, easing off the brakes, almost at the point where I'm not applying any pressure anymore, I get this creaking that comes up through my foot. You can hear it. Yep, only a small thing but its the really small things that can drive you mad! Anyone esle go this?
Next time sitting in the car, depress the brake pedal then come up off it slowly. If you have my problem, you'll feel the creaking through your foot.
I had a good luck underneath where the pedal linkages etc are and all seems to be okay. Bit of greasing here and there but no joy. I think the problem is coming from further in, behind the dust boot. I wonder if a bush or something is on the way out?

my GTA does this....is it a common annoyance? I hope so!

The brakepads on mine look to have loads of life n that, and its really just the top travel of the pedal that creaks... enough to annoy me

yep, mine does it, can feel a vibration through my foot near the top of the pedal's travel, but only since my recent brake issues (see my thread). My clutch pedal properly creaks though, really loudly.

Ok so it is (probably) gta specific. Im fairly sure the problem is somewhere between the brake cylinder and the section of pedal which disappears into the engine bay (he says with his in-depth technical terminology )

Its probably a case of having to disconnect the all the linkages etc and refit with proper lubrication to overcome. I'll get my mechanic to comment when I see him next week.

Have you any further news on your pedal? Sounds v similar to my problem, on GT, brake pedal judders at the top when using the brakes. Thought to be the master cylinder at the moment. Feels like the ABS is sort of cutting in straight away!

Although not a creaking brake pedal, I have noticed a creaking sound as brakes are first applied after washing the car and letting the car sit for a day or so before driving. I think it is related to the slight film of rust that has developed on the disc rotors. Noise disappears after a few brake applications after pads have removed the rust film.

Im thinking its the slave cylinder but havent had a chance for my mechanic to look it over yet. It would be easy to get in under the steering wheel and apply some wd40 around the linkage area but would rather see what mechanic says first. I'm going to get to the bottom of its annoying me!

I also have this (or a very similar) issue with my 147 JTD - very annoying! I can feel friction somewhere in the pedal mechanism but the noise isn't so much of a problem. When pushing down on the pedal it almost feels like the ABS is working.

Didn't spot that further up but that's exactly how it feels. Has anyone managed to stop the noise when the pedal releases (ie whenever you do not release the brake pedal very slowly or gently). I believe they all do this but it would be nice to get rid of it.
