147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
Hi all,
Bought a fairly new GTA last weekend and the car is in stunning condition.
The only thing that is not perfect on it is the drivers leather seat which is in black.
It's slightly worn and the colour has rubbed off where you get in and out of the car.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore the colour back into this section of the seat?
Many thanks.

Ayup Weymouth147,
What i do on black leather side bolsters is use good old black boot polish,i rub it in a little at a time until it as covered the light area,
it does work but make sure you give it a good buff up.
Attila.

I use a black paint stick, looks good and protects the worn leather.
Stunning car BTW

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
Shouldn't it be sorted under warranty?

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
Cant claim on warranty, its wear and tear. Its one of the downside of having high-bolster seats.
I'd be *very* careful about what you put on the seat TBH. I'd have thought a black paint stick would be too....well, black. Shoe polish probably the best idea, but I'd guess it'd rub off on your clothes?
I've just left it as is...mines got 40k on it and it doesn't look that bad really...

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
If I'd just bought a car as nice as that I'd find some extra cash to have the seat professionally restored or re-trimmed.

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
I made inquiries to get mine done under warranty - they weren't having any of it. Couldn't even get them to accept a serious mismatch of external paint colour (between metal and plastic parts) was a warranty fault: they (dealer)said it should have been pointed out sooner by the first owner!
You can buy the bits of the seat separately. Really expensive though - just look it up on ePer!
FWIW, the 350Z that I got rid of quite recently can suffer the same thing (mine was OK). Nissan have replaced whole seats for this very reason. Alfa should be doing the same. IMO it's a quality issue.

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
Thanks all.
The wear is very minimal, but as its new to me and in such good condition, I just wanted it to be perfect.
Thanks again

I wouldn't worry about this - all Nuvelo white's suffer from this quite badly, mine does and so did the first one I saw.
My old ITR had it (slightly) too, I spoke to a bodyshop and they said its how the paint "takes" to the plastic differently from the metal. Not much you can do about it.
However its quite bad on the Nuvelo's, under certain light it looks totally different. Most of the time though, you cant tell. Its still one of the best colours I've seen on a car, I get alot of comments about it

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
I just picked the girlfriend up from a night in Weymouth.
loads of people were taking second looks and pointing at my car as I drove around town to get her.
I cant think of many cars (if any) that would get that kind of attention for 16.5k.

I have tried the boot polish and it looks great.
It looks the same as the rest of the seat now :-)

Re: 147 GTA: Worn Drivers Leather Seat
you can use the polish and buf it back up to prevent it coming off on your clothes and then get some sealent for leather and apply that for a more perm fix, either that or keep polishing it up.
But best to give that side of the seat loads of leather treatment/cleaner/hide food and that'll keep it supple and keep the wear down. So the leather will stay good and then you only have the colour fade to worry about!
