Giulietta QV1.7, GTV 2.0,

I have just hooked one of these on my GQV and its just awesome !!! Im gonna have her dyno tested soon. My steup apart from spider box is ragazzon H2 line rear with no centre box and custom induction setup. Sound is just out of this world .

I get 13mpg pushing the car to limit and normal driving on N mode I get 36mpg. Spider is maxed to full power.

Awesome peace of kit.

How does the box cope with switching between N and D mode?

Also when the box is going through its learning process which mode did you have it in?

To be honest I really didn't take any notice of the N mode. switching you will certainly notice a Big DIFFERENCE but I will dyno tests soon and post results.

As regards to learning mode I think it changes according to the way you're driving at that time.

I just push het to the limit so it's learnt to go in CRAZY MODE

Giulietta QV1.7, GTV 2.0,

It has TWO cables true. One connects to MAF and the other to the end of the fuel train.

What it controls I really dont know.

So in the Novitec where do the 3 cables connect to ?

Hi towney, do you mind sending me the coupon code too?

After a quick web research the Spider seems to come out better than TMC, Racechip (most expensive) or Novitec (least power gain and no tun-ability). It also claims to have free shipping (I live in Hong Kong so the cost saving is substantial).

I wonder if any forum members here have put together any comparison between them in one place. It would be helpful to a tuning newbie like me.

Finally, when you said you bought an OBD box (no idea what that is!) to switch off the EML (engine light I suppose), is it something I should expect to happen? Just a bit worried that I couldn't handle this (or get an OBD) and returned the car to the dealer...

Thanks!

I didnt use any coupon code, I just placed the order and arrived in a few days, postage free to Malta and I suppose to anywhere else in the world.

Now as regards to the OBD box. It happened that just before I installed the spider box, I had left the ignition light on the previous day( listening to my mp3s) and I had to jump start the car to start her cause battery was dead. After that I was left with the "Engine light " on and didnt go away after a little drive.

I knew nothing was wrong so I asked a friend who had OBD box and he said thats simple to re-set. But me being me I had a look on the internet and found that if you turn the ignition key to the middle ie off and on 10 times in a row it will reset. So I tried it and it worked.

Then I went ahead and installed the spider box

my TMC chip also had 3 connectors, box looks identical to the novitec one so i assume its the same. from memory they goto manifold, boost pressure and throttle valve or soemthing

The request for the coupon code was actually addressed to towney (the member who started the thread), but thanks for sharing the useful info.

I am more tempted to place an order!

Anyone still wanting the code let me know.

Glad you like the box i think its great.

As the questions, i only ever drive in D, i don't see much point of N. It does defiantly learn your driving style. For example if you do a 50 mile commute driving like an old lady it will kill off boost a bit, making the car less aggressive if that makes sense. It only takes 1 or 2 gear changes pushing it hard to then push up the boost to max again. Trust me you dont want it boosting too hard all the time or you will get a sore neck its nice to have the option of a relaxed drive if you want. Also it uses more fuel when boosting hard all the time.

And reference the obd 2 device.. Its possible that the box can fire up an eml on your dash as it can overboost your turbo. I found that if you crank up the boost too soon this will happen. Run your car on recommended settings for 150 miles then start to fiddle.

I bought an obd 2 device from a local machien mart for about 30 quid and keep it in my glove box. Very easy to use. Just means you can find the happy medium of your car, allowing you to find the highest setting and alowwing you to push the car. Pain in the arse taking it to dealers, would rather do it myself in 10 seconds.

Going to get mine checked for any software updates and check for fault codes before buying/installing box.

IS it just the 2 plugs no power supply cables??

Yeah just the 2 connections, very simple to do. The connection at the back can be a little tricky, its much easier to actualy remove the sensor and disconnect it rather then remove the connection while the sensor is in place. You will need a T20 attachment, and it goes on at an angle. If you are unsure ill do a video

I'm sure you need to have made 10 posts before you can message people etc.

Yeah me too... At £300ish it seems like a steal and a great option vs remapping. £450 is slightly more than I have right now after buying the G and insurance at the same time

Even with the forum offer?

Mine will be for sale soon. Going for a custom remap when i have the time. This is just to see what one is best tbh for my own peace of mind. Im sure there are torque limiters too on 3rd gear especially. Box cant remove these. Will get dyno results with box the box and remapp, on the same dyno.

When you input the code you still get a discount but still dearer than before. Will be good to see the results Towney might be interested to buy your box if your selling.
