Giulietta Guide

Hi all,

As an Alfa newbie looking for as many info as possible on the Giulietta, I though to create a thread with all the most common questions, issues, links to Alfa Romeo specialised sites and whatever might comes handy.

The thread is a work in progress and your help/suggestions would be much appreciate to make this a one stop thread to enjoy your Alfa experience.

Hope it helps!

KNOWN ISSUES:
Water in the third stop light –solution not known but should be covered by the warranty
Low batteries: Common issue in the winter, specially if the car isn’t used daily or used for short journeys only, owners have reported dodgy stop/start system and warning lights lighting up because of this.

Fading Badges: Common issues in all Alfa models, those can be replaced and bought form various internet sites (see shopping section)

Gear knob coming off/getting loose: Simply re screw the know or to fix the issue, replace with an aftermarket

TUNING

Engine/Performances: As most cars are still in warranty, there isn’t an awful lot available.
Tuning Box: Anything between £200 and £400. Those are plug and play boxes which alters the infomrations received by the ECU (electric control unit). Plus sides are that is cheaper than a remap, easy to fit, easy to remove in case of repairs under warranty. Some people don’t like those devise as they send “deceptive” messages to the ECU

Remaps: Anything from£400+ those increase the bhp, torque and general performances and in some case mpg.

Air filters: Helps the engine breathing resulting in less engine heat=longer/better performances

Strut brace/anti roll bars: INFO NEEDED

Intercoolers: INFO NEEDED

Exhaust: Ragazzon seems to be the most common, those help the engine gasses flow freely improving performances and sound

Suspensions: Those improve the handling of the car using stiffer and shorter springs and shocks Alfa Romeo Giulietta / High Performance / Spare Parts / Gazzella Racing Ltd

A good start
" Gear knob coming off/getting loose: Simply re screw the know or to fix the issue, replace with an aftermarket"
Not aware of the gear knob getting loose . There's a thread about this . It's the clips holding the top section which fail and can be fixed very easily with blu-tac or superglue until replaced under warranty.
Ive not heard much about the leaking central stoplight but there's a thread on water in the lock area via water getting into tailgate. Mine was getting in through the tailgate spoiler.
The plastic welding of the top front of the Doortrim or speaker area can cause rattles.
The synchro from first to second caused problems on some cars including mine.
All these issues are covered by threads . Perhaps links to those ?
