New Giulietta... Now what?

Hi All,

So on Tuesday I picked up my amazing new Lusso 1.4tb in profondo blu. I am totally smitten!
I am now however doing what YOU ALL, i hope did and looking at stuff to dress her up in!
I am leaning towards a new blue or CF gear nob, satin, chrome wing mirrors... you know the stuff I didn't ask for at the show room and now wish I had.

What did you buy when you first picked up your car?
What is in you opinion the best accessory?

I have been reading the posts on here for a couple of days and I have learnt a lot already! Great job guys!

David

Are you sure about the valve caps Alan?
When I told the dealer mine had been nicked he said that's just as well because they can corrode on and he has to tell people that they were unable to check the pressures at service time. The knob however , a good idea to preempt the possible breaking off of the top .
The alloy fuel cap gives a nice sense of occasion . And my favourite is the illuminated tread plates. I know I've mentioned them before !

Oh yes!

(The OCD bit of me is frustrated that the oil cap doesn't seem to tighten fully with the Alfa badge the right way up when looking in the bonnet. It is if you look in over the near side wing! )

I haven't got one for ours yet as I just know that that will drive me nuts too. Got the alloy fuel cap though, , and at least you can get it to sit correctly, .

Boot liner - definitely. Has saved our boot carpet from nasty spillages on several occasions.

Or for the boot mine has
Alfa Giulietta Lugagge Compartment Organiser | Genuine Alfa Accessories
Although the £20 folding thing we've got for the Multipla does a similar job for much less.
http://www.alfaaccessories.com/Alfa-...category_id=69 d
And i tried to resist getting bigger wheels , but bought these after 3000 miles http://www.alfaaccessories.com/Alfa-...category_id=91

Cue...the valve caps are still in the box! Doh

And....yes I ordered the £40ish boot liner well worth having.

Not as posh as Cue's expensive boot organizer though

Thanks for the suggestions, I've got the cloverleaf key ring (I know I don't have a QV car but hey)
I think I'll go for one of everything!
Is the official blue gear knob the same quality as the standard fit or a lot better?
And I would like the petrol cap and wing mirror cover.
I tried to tell my wife tonight how amazing the chromatic rear view mirror is, first time I've seen it work! She was underwhelmed to say the least!

Hi Darh

Welcome to the forum and congratulations with your new car. I have the same colour and same engine as you. I seriously don't understand why this colour is not more popular.

First thing I got for mine was illuminated kick plates and alloy pedals. The kick plates are awesome.

Then I got the satin chrome mirrors and 17" wheels. The 16" wheels it came with are now used for winter tires.

Then I got the boot liner and rubber mats for winter.

A few days ago I got the eibach lowering springs. They are yet to be installed.

Regarding gear know I have really thought about both the blue and the cf one many times. But I actually like the chrome look of the original. Even though the feel of it leaves something to be desired.

Enjoy the car.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I haven't seen the illuminated kick plates yet, I will look them up...

Was the chrome mirror covers easy to fit? Do you clip on or have to replace the whole unit.
I could seriously go mad and by everything but it would probably end in divorce.

As for the colour, I agree it is stunning. My dealer did say it is becoming more popular.

The illuminated scuffs are great Felixen. I got them for my car for Christmas when you get more darkness to view them ! The carbon knob is good with the Lusso seat trim and reassuringly does not have a separate top to anticipate losing . The feel is good in my opinion compared to the original.

The mirror covers are fairly easy to change yourself. They are clip ons. I scratched the origanals a bit when removing them, but nothing too bad. Probably won't use them again anyway, still didn't want to throw them out though.

There is actually a guide to the mirrors somewhere on here. You will also get a "manual" when you buy them. Basically, just a few pictures. Feel free to PM me if you buy them and have trouble figuring it out.

Is Tomtom mentioned a lot here as well. My car is from July 2010 and was born before the Tomtom connection was standard. So I have to live without that one.

@cue2. Now you are getting me into looking to buy the carbon gear knob again. Just as I had almost decided against it :-)

thanks Felixen,

I won't be getting the tom-tom, I'd just bought a new garmin (after years of using tom-tom's) I'm trying not to look into how good the built in connection and the B&M compatibility is, I'd probably kick my self for not waiting!

I would say the wing mirrors are a certainty I will wait and see how my knob wears!! I also like the look of the original.

How about flaps?? Worth it or not?

Don't know about the flaps. Never really looked into it.

One thing I forgot earlier was my tinted rear windows. I got that a few months ago. Really adds nicely to the overall look. And has the added benefit of saving my little baby girl from getting too much sun in her face :-)

Cheers mate

The tinted windows are actually "just" film I had retrofitted. Had it done by a very professional guy. You can't even tell that it is film when sliding down the windows.
