Help Qv owners question about engine size?

Yo i was outside of work just now, when one of our External Systems company manager, walks up from his BMW 320d, and peers in and says:-

"awwww this is a bit nice isnt it, lovely......what engine is it?"

I reply "1.7 turbo"

Lol what a naf answer i gave him, and made my car seem a little weak , so to speak.. I really wanted to get in 235bhp without sounding a total idiot lol..

How do you guys go about quickly answering the QVs engine size and power, without making it sound underpowered lol

Just wondered how the true alfisti go about it.....I need to know for next time hehee..

I say it's a 1750 that bangs out more bhp that the 3.0 V6 in my GTV.....that seems to do the trick!

I say the same. I say it's a 1.8 turbo with enough power to break your face.

When I'm asked about the MA I say it's only a 1.4 but with 2litre output

Although I am not a QV owner Dan, I understand the dilemma. A workmate came to look at mine the other day and asked "What size engine is in that, a 2.0 litre or bigger?" When I replied that it was a 1.4 he almost couldn't stop his sniggering. I waited and then calmly stated "but it has a turbo with 170bhp, and 0-100 in 7.7 secs". His eyes widened somewhat and he couldn't help running his hands slowly over the red leather seats (I almost had to slap his hands) and drooling.

I would just say it puts out 235bhp and ask them to guess what engine size. Then hit them with the "It's only a 1750" and smile at their reaction .

Tell them it's good for 150mph, 0-60 less than 7 seconds and that their girlfriend reckons size doesn't matter

Surely they'd have to be an idiot not to know the difference a turbo makes?

I like to say its a 1,75 L
Cause the next question is usually how many HP it has, or maybe even "what does it have 110-120 hp" and then you **** them ower with 235

Not sure what the shame is in having a 1.75?

Do you know what size engine an Evo X has? A 2.0 producing 360 bhp.
Honda CTR? 2.0 producing 200bhp.
Seat LCR/TT? 1.8 producing 225bhp.
Audi S3? 2.0 producing 260bhp.

I wonder if the owners of cars like that are concerned with cubic capacity?!

Mazda rotaries had small displacement and there's that new 1.0 litre 3cyl Focus that really shifts

Having just driven the new 1.0 Focus I have to say its pushing it to say it 'really shifts'.

It's impressive though as it feels like a 1.6 when its just a little 1.0 hitting 55mpg.

I say "it gives 5bhp more than a new 3.0l in the E92 BMW 328i, but ALFA invented a shrink-ray before the Krauts"

As an MA owner, I feel your pain. I usually state power first too, then smile and say it's just a little 1.4. Now to wait another few hundred miles and I can finally say it'll have 190 bhp

Getting the SaVaLi tuning done soon!

I don't think people worry about the capacity of the RX8 engine after you tell them it's a Wankel engine
