Lowering: springs or coilovers

Hi,

I'm thinking about lowering my QV and the obvious question is, should I do it properly with coilovers or is simply getting the cheap lowering springs OK .. I am looking at Novitec stuff, based on some googling it seems their coilovers are basically KW's and the price is reasonable - but I can't find any comments on how they are in real life.

Anybody here have lowered their QV? Which way did you go and are you happy with it?

Thanks!

I ordered H&R springs almost 4 weeks ago...hope it gets here this week or next week. Then I'm getting Koni adjustable shocks. The H&R's will lower the car by +-35mm, I also have 15mm Novitec spacers on the car already.

Hey Giuli - Since the GQV is already lowered by 10mm does the H&R springs lower it by a further 35mm or just another 25mm?

If it's an extra 35mm then it would lower a MA Giulietta by 45mm??

Giuli: any reason why you're getting springs + new shocks instead of coilovers? I think the cost will be almost the same...

I've got the Novitec springs on order now. It'll be a few weeks until they are at the shop and can be installed... decided to go cheap here, I honestly believe coilovers are the superior solution but this will probably do the trick just fine for my uses. I'm OK with the soft stock suspension but the fender gap is just nasty!

Would be sort of nice to know who makes the Novitec branded springs, looks like their coilovers are actually KWs. Anyhow the lowering is said to be 40mm and springs fit all Giuliettas so end result is probably 30mm on the QV... but since decision is already made, it's not such a big deal

I'll post comments once springs are in place.

Hi Sam, sorry for the late reply, im STILL waiting for my springs let alone looking into Koni shocks.

The reason i went for H&R is because my previous cars had them on and i liked the ride they gave me, secondly, just like you i too hate fender gap!

Aparently the springs are coming to ZA tomorow...sp willwait and see.

@GregZN, mate i don't know hey, H&R is standard 30mm I found out and the final settle-in is 35mm

I have the novitec springs, and they are brilliant.
You don't really notice too much of a drop, if any an extra 5mm drop compared to the QV.
Which has me thinking the QV springs are more than a 10mm drop from the standard G.
But as for quality of ride goes, the front feels way more in control when I put my pedal to the metal.
They novitec springs have transformed the way the G handles and feels for the better.

Oh yeah,
Get yourself a TMC tuning box you won't regret it.
Faster and better fuel economy too
