changing the Original crap Stereo!

Hallo People!
i was thinking of changing my original giulietta Stock CD player for a 2 din DVD/GPS touch screen player! (sure after getting the suitable Dashboard)
has anybody did it bevore? suggetsions? ideas?? does it hurt the Car electrical Communications? or damage anything??

Only my opinion, but I would rather keep all of the integration it provides and see if there is a line out you can feed into a decent amp(or 2) and upgrade all the speakers.

Better sound and keeps the cosmetics as they are.

I was thinking yesterday that the Audio system is not really crap which is fortunate as its so integrated ! If you can maintain the head unit and upgrade the rest to get what you are after that would be easier.

Actually it's very good compared to other stock systems. I also wouldn't change the dashboard, but I've seen a pic of 2 DIN one put in at the Giulietta's facebook profile. You can ask the guy.

It's not bad although I have had better. For me, the rear speakers are a bit poor but maybe these can be upgraded?

Thanks for replying. I have upgradet my 4 speakers to german blaupunkt 6,5". The sound is quite good but in high volume the sound get worst. I was thinking to change the integrated stereo for a din2 ! Better sound and more speakers!! I have got the rosso din2 dashboard! But i must decide to install it or not!! Dont know if it damage the board computer or not!!

+1..I think it sounds good.Not changing it! I would go as far as to say that it sounds better than the DSP system in my BMW X5....

Hi, I have changed the front speakers with a pair of Focal PS 165 and the sound is excellent.
It gets better as you increase the volume.

i have just seen the DIN2 pioneer stereo in the G! i think its beautiful and looks modern!!
im going to install my new DIN2 stereo and send some pictures for some impressions!

i had a touch screen in my scirocco hated it, looked horrid when it was off. looked so plain and business like... your changing a classy alfa into a business like bmw mate.

Dr Mati. For one sensitive to the quality of sound ,can you be more specific about the inadequacies of the system beyond the word crap,which does not sound very good to me! You would need a sound reasons to install something so hideous as that double din panel surround.IMHO

And I suppose you have the door properly deadened, amplifier and REALLY good speakers installed, decent speaker cables mounted and the sound is still not satisfactory?

Well, I do have one. And it's neatly hidden in the glovebox, so the pendrive doesn't stick in the middle of the dashboard.
I still believe the headunit should be the last thing you'd change, but that's your choice. I'd start with deadening the door - this will give you definitely the biggest improvement. then go for an external amp. Then think over.
