Noticed that the lights for these switches aren't on all the time. Is this normal? It can be very annoying when trying to let someone in, end up turning the fog lights on all the time.
Car needs to go to the dealer as the rattle is back in the centre of the dash. Just need to know if I should bring the lights up too.
Yes, it's normal. Front and rear fog lights must always be turned on manually. What do you mean by "let someone in"? Don't tell me you're using them as yard lights or something?
Oh dear, I must have had one of my slower days yesterday
The manual states that the instrument panels light up only when you engage the external lights. I.e. if you only drive with "Daytime Running Lights", I assume most of the dials, knobs and switches will be dark.
I dont understand what you mean but each switch has the sybol that it is for over the top of the panel. i.e the door lock toggle has a key sybol over it.
I think he is saying, when it is dark at night, and you switch the lights on, the symbols above the switches should light up so you can see which one to press.
e.g. the front fog, rear fog, stop start (non QV models) and door lock symbols all glow red/orange. i think his don't work - so without turning on the interior light you cant see what each switch is.
i hope this is what you meant MiTo1988.
When a switch is pressed a small round LED lights up above the symbol to show it is active.
eg, Red LED above door lock symbol, Green LED above front fog symbol etc.
When you say "letting people in" i assume you mean the auto door locks are on, so after moving off and pulling up elsewhere to pick up a passenger you need to see which is the door lock button to unlock the doors.
judging by the confusion I guess the lights that distinguish which switches are which should be on all the time when the headlights are on, therefore I will mention it too the dealer. I am basically playing roulette at night trying to find the correct switch. Once you've actually pressed one though the panel lights up LEDs and everything, my guess is a loose connection.
