hi all, im after opinions on colour of calipers for my GQV. i tried to change the brake fluid last week but all of the bleed nipples were seized solid so im going to have to heat them up and damage the paint on the calipers. the lacquer is already coming off and the original red has faded to tradition brembo pink!!!
im toying with the idea of changing the colour of the calipers to be different!
I would say going by the colour of your car in the picture that black would go well and if you can get the lettering put back on in white. You could always consider going for the lamborghini colours for brakes which is bright greens and the like.
End of the day you car your choice and sod everyone else
...unless the car itself is bright green; then the brakes are gloss black
I liked the white colour that brookyp achieved before the yellow, too. But either way, it was a nice thorough job well done sanding and painting (black) the centres of the brake discs would be a useful next step.
I've been thinking about doing the same to my QV, since the red paint on my calipers have faded as well. My car is white so I was thinking either white calipers with green letters or green calipers with white or black letters
Please keep us posted when you've painted your calipers. I would love to see how it turns out!
IMHO really ugly in combination with your red paint. And, this green calipers are only fitted to hybrid Porsche's. You car is not a hybrid... So, not my choice.
But, it's your choice. So, do what you like.
Cool! I fitted red braided lines from Squadra Sportiva to my QV. The old lines were really worn looking so it probably wasn't a bad idea to change them.
The braided lines does make a difference in how the brakepedal feels, so you should look forward to fitting them.
I dont know why you would need braided lines. The brakes on my GQV are brilliant as they are with the feel of the 4 pot calipers. If you made the pedal harder you would lose that beautiful feel that the 4 pots create
ALL DONE!!!
I'm gonna expect a few negative comments so take fire, but I'm happy with the result. It took an absolute age to get the calipers prepared for paint as the were in terrible condition.

The bleed nipples were seized when I tried to change the fluid a few months ago so with having to apply a bit of heat I thought I'd refurb the calipers and while I was there buy some braided hoses. The usual case of one jobs turns into another?
I've drove home with very little braking to make sure they worked, I'll report back on the feel of the pedal. The hoses were from HEL and the engineering looked awesome, some real quality materials used
I think they look surprisingly good! I was expecting the yellow to look really bad, but I honestly don't think they do. Cool that you took the time to do it properly!
What paint did you use?
Looks good tbh but personally while your paying attention to detail maybe get wheels done and do your hubs also as there a distraction to your calipers
i changed the discs and pads a while ago and sprayed the hats of the discs in plastidip but its now showing through so will be done again soon when i do the wheels.
