Just placed a pre-order for a QV. Not sure what the difference is between a pre-order and normal order as the next thing I need to do is pick the car up.

I went for black with the dark 5 hole wheels and yellow calipers. Black interior with red stitching and red panels with the carbon fibre steering wheel insert. I also added the Harmon Kardon, convenience pack (that appears to be keyless entry and that's about it) and I splurged on the Sparko carbon seats. I managed to control myself and not add the carbon ceramics.

There were two options that don't appear on the website configurator. Tinted windows that I went for, and some kind of radar cruise control that I didn't.

There was no word on financing options yet, but that should be later this month and delivery times are "this side of Christmas".

I'm so excited I could wet myself. I'll try not to though.

Nick. Great work mate!

Can you tell me how much the tinted windows were?
Also can you tell me about the power seat pack. Im looking at Sparcos myself. Does this add power to the sparcos? Does it add heat also and what are they charging for this?

Thanks
M

Went to the Birmingham preview event yesterday too and got a lot of good information, power seats are the standard seats and the carbon seats are manual. Cruise control is standard and was shown through all the extra gadgets like auto collision braking, lane change warning and blind spot warning. The QV is only a 4 seater but an upgrade for 5th seatbelt will be available next year. QV looks stunning and sounds amazing, start up is in normal then shifts to dynamic for better sound

Official orders are not being taken by Alfa as yet but paper orders are being taken by dealerships so they are ready to go once Alfa open up the ordering system. Right hand drive productions starts mid September and delivery dates will be confirmed once production is under way, all they would confirm is that first deliveries would be this year and deals will be confirmed next week.

From memory, I think the tinted windows were £275. No idea how much the power seat pack was or whether it added heat, although I think that's standard on the Sparcos. The order was added to an excel spreadsheet that had been built for the purpose, but I don't know if it was clever enough to prevent option clashes such as power not being avaliable with Sparcos.

I just enquired on the cost of the two options I turned down that weren't on the configurator. Power seats are £950 and Adaptive Cruise Control is £895. I passed on both of them. The dealer didn't know if you could order power seats with the Sparcos. I suspect not, as what's the point in super light seats weighed down by electric motors but who knows.

I was going to post something similar as I was sure there was some kind of button on the Sparcos that I saw at Goodwood. I think it's just a height adjuster though as you can see the handle for the fore-aft movement in that picture too.

Agreed. Alot of money for electric height adjustment and some carbon covers! It also does not include heated seats. I looked today at some images I have of the Sparco in recent press cars and they have the manual height lever with plain black plastic covers. I think I can handle a lever for 975 GBP!

After many months waiting finally placed my pre order and paid a 10% deposit on the 1st Sept...competizione red (361) , black 5 hole alloys (kept the standard black calipers, active cruise control and tinted windows, black with red stitching interior. not gone with Carbon or electric seats (I expect it will be predominantly me driving it and I still have use of my hands) not worried about a sound upgrade...the car is enough. Now I have to decide what to do with my newly fully resprayed and engine rebuilt (new pistons, liners, mains, cam belt) brilliant blue 156 GTA SW....in the garage under cover appreciating or released back into the wild after over 10 years in my hands......only a drive in the QV will decide it.

Damn! I thought I might be the only person in the world stupid brave enough to order one. According to my dealer (Palmer's in Hemel Hempstead) most QVs will be sold in competizione, not sure if they are right or wrong but it seems to be the "the" colour. Was tempted but the black car at Goodwood swung it for me. I would normally have passed on the sound upgrade but I did that on my current Audi and it is the worst sound system I have ever heard so I'm taking no chances this time. The standard Giulia has two audio upgrades, so chances are the QV has the first stage upgrade as standard so hopefully it will be OK. Were you tempted by the steering wheel with carbon insert and alcantara?

Double oh.. did they make you put 10% down or did you want to? I only had to put down £1k but was told it was non-refundable. The spreadsheet said minimum 10% but apparently it was a guideline for the dealer only. I will clearly put a lot more than that down on the car when I get it, but I'd prefer to have it in my bank account than theirs while I wait.

I'm looking forward for the preview this Sunday. Test-drove a 2.2 JTD 180 bhp in Lisbon 2 months ago and really liked the car.

it was a white one with black interior. Good cabin... I loved the steering wheel and the steering too, so precise!! you sit low, it has got good grip on corners... the infotainment system works well although I can understand some criticism as to how it looks - it could be a tad more modern

here's a few photos. Not a QV but... :)

I have a bit of experience with the pCCb brakes on Porsche owning a 991 GT3 which is my track day car. I chose steel rotors over PCCB based on other track junkies advice. If you are driving a 911 on track you dont want PCCB. They are fragile (can be damaged when removing a wheel etc) and they have a habit of lasting now where as long as advertised on the track whilst costing a fortune to replace. Luckily it looks like FCA have chosen brembos (cheaper) Z1 CCB package for teh Giulia which means the replacement cost of the discs should be more reasonable but you could still be looking at 2K a corner if something goes wrong.

The PCCB option is 30mm larger at the front and 20mm larger at the rear IRRC. So they fill up the wheels better. The calipers are identical I believe but the PCCB pads will be larger with a bigger swept area.

If this is only a road car I think the PCCB should be great if you can afford them. The definitely look the business.

The downsides for me are cost. Followed by care and replacement costs (consumables). I also like the larger drilled holes in the steel discs and the shiny steel finish versus the dull grey of the CCB. However I dont like the fact the steel discs look smaller in the wheel.

Left is CCB, Right is steel.

P.S. Im very undecided on the seats. The standard sports seats is the ARE heated and electric are a good deal as they appear to have deep bolsters - more so than the Sparcos so I suspect they are not only more comfortable but more supportive. However I see no heated seat buttons on the HVACs controls of most prototypes. Also someone has mentioned electric seat pack on here so is that for just the Sparco or both? if both then are the factory sport seats electric in any way as standard? In terms of marking I think the standard seats will be harder to maintain the backs than the CF. I have CF seats in my GT3 and 993RS and you can have any reasonabel scratches cut and polished out of the clear coat easy enough by a panel shop or do it yourself,. With the leather once scuffed always scuffed and the backs of these remind me of my old M5 which would mark as soon as kid or adult touched them and always looked messy.

I would rather have the Sparco seats (and money in my pocket) than the PCCB and I suspect they will be better for resale. Just my 2c worth...

Great info, thanks. The PCCBs do look the nuts. I'm not sure I've ever seen the steel brakes as virtually all the early cars have PCCBs. Still happy with my decision, £5,500 is a lot of cash - I am a bit jealous though.

I asked the dealer to confirm about the power seat options and they didn't know. But I'm pretty sure the Sparcos don't have the electric option (other than lift, or whatever that one button does) and the standard seats have optional power. Power seats are really heavy and it seems a shame to weigh the car down after they went to the effort of giving us a carbon fibre prop shaft.

I agree, keeping it as light as possible is the way to go. The PCCB do save a fair bit of un-sprung weight - Id imagine around kg a corner. All the pre production cars had PCCB. I imagine it helped the car feel a little nimbler too when being reviewed. Customer cars however are likely to be 70% steel brake I suspect (due mostly to the cost of the upgrade which is 10% of the base price on top of the standard steel brakes. Essentially you are paying 1400 GBP per rotor as the calipers are the same and the pads little difference in value. If you do need a replacement rotor outside of a warranty claim just bear in mind its likely to be almost twice this amount.

Im fine with manual seats too if its going to save some weight. I wish the weight was published for the seats to find out how much lighter the Sparco really are. Currently i have Sparco on my order. One thing I like about the sports seats over the sparco is the seat base is extendable, a feature I have found useful on longer trips. weirdly it is not electric and the video I saw of it being pulled out it looks rather flimsy. It is odd that electric seats arent standard on a car of this caliber tho. In reality the QV is no lighter than a loaded BMW M3.

Its hard to find steel brake cars but now customer cars are being delivered its easier...

Regarding stereo upgrades..

On a car like this you do not need to use the stereo other than on mute with TA on if you're on a long journey. You do not need a quality sound system to hear some DJ announce traffic problems. Any wireless will do :p
There is little music that will be better than that V6 soundtrack.

Makes sense when you're having fun, but when you're stuck on the Edgware Road wanting to kill yourself a decent stereo at least provides a crumb of comfort.
