Why so many used 8Cs for sale?
Well,i was looking through autotrader uk & by surprise i've seen that there are 11(!) 8Cs for sale!I personally don't see the reason why....it's limited edition, low mileage....i wouldn't think that these Alfas are 'defective'.

a lot of the UK ones will have been bought by speculators who run them for a few months and then sell them on for a profit knowing that people will pay a premium
the UK cars were around £110k if i remember rightly and the 'used' ones on the market currently start at around £130k. not a bad profit really. its the same with the 8C spiders, they are around £175k i think and i have seen a couple of second hand ones for sale already, all of them way over £200k
of course, they are all for sale right now just waiting for me to pick the right one, thats why

I just hope my lottery number come up. I'll have one for my everyday car and a second for the weekends. Just thought haven't got a ticket yet.

The 8C has no real major services (engine out) to speak of... but then, every service is a major one, price-wise just had the first service (3k) done on mine, spent 750 pounds

Not bad.
That's about the price my Alfa indie charges for a standard service here in Oz....

Hi Kalel
Not sure where you are located or where you go to for your services but I have a Brera 2.2 (lovely car, vastly underpowered with a few 'issues' and a trouble-free 3.2 GT) and Automotion in Brisbane do my services and I don't even pay close to $750 let alone 750 pounds for a decent service. If you are local then they are well worth the visit as they are awesome!!

paying more for a car (any car) than the list price is absurd !! only collector items such as a
GTO, DB5, Dino, Miura to name a few , are worth much more than what they originally costed.
The 8C does not have any collectors value (yet) maybe in 25 years ...

people sell them because the type that buy them often like to change very regulalry (ie lucky rich B's )
Why not chop in a 8c in if you are getting more than you paid - and you have room for an 8c spider then

Its very imoral. Like ticket touts who buy loads of tickets and then flog em on ebay for twice the price because real fans can't get hold of em cos they are sold out. People like this don't deserve money as it ruins it for the rest of us! Thank god there's people like you MacGeek who clearly loves his 8C.

Not sure where you got your pricing info from but it's wide of the mark I'm afraid. The UK cars were around 200,000 Euros before options not £110k so nearly all the cars currently for sale are well below the list price. Some of them have been up for sale for 18 months. I was offered two brand new cars at the end of '08 but decided they were too high a risk so passed.
The car was launched into the worst part of the financial meltdown and simply hasn't recovered. It's way over priced compared to what else you can buy at this price point (430 Scuderia, Gallardo Balboni, 911 GT2 etc) and the used market agrees hence why so many cars remain unsold I'm afraid.

Your pricing info seems off, too... the 8C Competizione, here in Italy, sold for €162,550 before options, which at the current exchange rate is around £140k; while the 8C Spider sold for €213,250 before options (around £180k).
PS I would never, ever, ever trade my 8C for a 430 Scuderia, a Gallardo Balboni, a 911 GT2, or even a 458 Italia.

My pricing info comes from UK dealers who tried to sell me two cars at full UK list when the financial markets collapsed in September 2008.

They definitely tried to charge you way more than MSRP. Unless those were fully loaded cars, with every conceivable optional extra, and their price reflected that. I can't imagine such a big price difference between Italian and UK prices: to the contrary, usually UK prices are a bit lower.

They were full European list price including options and had to be paid in euros due to the shifting value of the currency at the time. I passed as the car just isn't worth that sort of money IMHO and bought a Scuderia instead. Likewise I wouldn't swap it for an 8C

That confirms your initial statement was incorrect, then, as you wrote "around 200,000 Euros before options", then you said the price included options (and the 8C Competizione needs to have many options before it passes the 200,000 Euro mark).
As for the Scuderia... I was offered one, at around the same time as I applied to buy my 8C Spider. It would have been cheaper, and the delivery time was way, way shorter (I waited 20 months for the 8C). I declined, and don't regret it one bit: Ferraris are a bit boring to me. I find the 8C has much more personality. Plus, it's an Alfa Romeo.

Maybe, but not when it comes to the engine which is essentially a Maserati.
At least that's the line I got from the Maserati dealer after test driving the GT-S recently.
They share the same basic 4.7 litre V8.
