8V TS variator not working...
Overhauled my TS engine recently and noticed a bit reluctant to rev and I was not getting the "kick in the back" you normally get above 3000rpm. Suspected the variator but did not have the guts to disconnect it and drive... until today...
Drove it with the terminals disconnected and guess what? it made absolutely NO difference to the way it drives. Meaning ... Ive been driving with no VVT for the last 4 months...
Yesterday I checked the terminals with a multimeter while a friend rev the engine to about 3000rpm, no voltage at the solenoid. Then I checked the relay that powers the variator solenoid and found that the fuse on top of the relay was busted.
Changed the fuse and drove around (with the terminals now connected of coz)
but no change. Could it be the relays itself is unserviceable? I noticed that that particular relay was a little hot to the touch when removing it.
Appreciate any help in resolving this matter :P
PS: I posted here coz mine is an early TS with twin distributor similar to the 75TS.
