Alfa 75 TS - strange clunking at speed
Not sure if there's enough people on here with 75s to help but recently I had my exhaust replaced. The silencer was buzzing so it was replaced again with excellent condition second-hand parts.
When driving around town and on rural roads, all seems fine. However, when travelling on dual carriageways etc at speed, there seems to be a knocking / thumping from under the floor. I can hear and feel it by my left foot. Very odd. Am hoping it's the exhaust hitting something although I've given it a good shake about under the car.
My next fear is a coincidental problem to do with the prop-shaft. Could it be a faulty bearing or something. When going over bumps at lower speeds, there doesn't appear to be anything obvious clunking around. As I say, it just appears to be travelling at speed (70-80mph) on dual carriageways. It's not a nice sensation and only seems to have done it since all the work on exhaust. It just strikes me as odd, because travelling at those kind of speeds on the dual carriageway means smoother roads etc with no obvious bumps.
Bloody frustrating after a bout of spending quite a bit of money on the old girl and just want it to feel nice again. Plus I've got to get a new radiator!
It wouldn't be an Alfa if it didn't have a list of ongoing things that need looking at!
Any suggestions appreciated - as long as they're polite!!
Rockin' all over the road!
