My brother has a Land Rover 3.5 V8 running on a Bedini LPG system. The one big thing is to make sure that your engine is in 100% condition BEFORE you start. You need to check compressions, valve seats are OK for unleaded etc. etc. The gas seems to emphasise any weakness in the engine, but the temptation is to blame the new gas system and not the old bits. It also likes a big spark, so check coil, plugs, HT leads etc. We found a big benefit going onto Magnecor leads. If all this is OK, and you are going to go ahead, check that your insurers are happy with a DIY installation - we had to present a certificate of conformity to the insurers (it was a professional install). Last thing, check you can sacrifice the luggage space and get the biggest tank you can! Dependant on the shape of the tank, you can only fill some of them to 80%, but it will be sold as say a 60 litre tank, but will actually only hold 48 litres... You get slightly worse economy on gas - only a couple of mpg less, but at 33pence a litre, who is to a couple of mpgs??!!
Sounds like an interesting project! Good luck!
