Re: Alfa 75 and galvanising
Methinks you are all too unkind to the Alfa 75 which has a well made and well protected shell.
When I bumped mine in 1991 (her hum) it went to Colin Pitts body shop in Otley. Colin used to do all the bodywork for the Alfa/Lancia garage at the top of Pool Bank..before they went to Subaru and beyond.
He confessed he was not looking forward to working on an Alfa again, having not seen any in his shop for some years, as he said the panels of the Suds/ Old GTVs/Alfettas/ Sixes were all poor metal and a poor fit and damned difficult to get looking right again.
He said it was a real surprise to see how well made and well painted my 75 was. Not only that, when the new panels arrived...quickly.. they fitted first time. It had two front wings, front valance panel, bumper, headlight and bits and bobs..so it wasn't just a scratch. Came back looking absolutely perfect.
They were well rust proofed as well, but do go eventually round the screen area and the rear wheel arches in many cases.
