Idea alfa 75 rear brakes

i took my alfa 90 for mot the other day it failed .but not on much ,one was the rear brakes that wernt working at all!!!.i first thought it was one of the flexi pipes that were blocked so removed it presed the brake pedal and it was still hard so i removed the pipes off the junction box next to the master cylinder presed the brake pedal still had a hard pedal so i removed the junction box and found it blocked and i was unable to un block but lookerly i had one in the shed .i fitted new part ,bled the brakes ,adjusted the rear calipers now the brakes work fine.this prompted me to check the rear brakes on my 75v6.i adjusted the calipers and now cant belive the difference foot brake much sharper and hand brake 3 clicks i recomend people to check the adjustments its not a hard job and the results are stagering if they are miles out

Re: alfa 75 rear brakes

Can anyone tell me which side the pad wear indicator is supposed to go on the rear brakes? The wires are missing off my car too - do they go into the boot by the fuel tank?. The car is a 1991 TS. I also took the pads out, and they don't have a direction arrow on them - I think the P.O. put them in backwards, as I always thought the cut out on the back of the pads goes to the front of the car, so that the force is applied to the heel of the pad and not the toe.

Re: alfa 75 rear brakes

Matt, the junction box you refer to, is that the pressure limit valve?

BTW, Kevin at EB SPares told me ages ago to keep the rear pads with more than half wear ileft in them otherwise the handbrake and footbrake travel goes long. He's right too.

We recently changed brake discs, pads and one caliper in the rear on our "toy car" Alfa 75, and I seem to remember that we put the pad with the wires on the outside. (Perhaps I am misremembering, but I think that the rear pads on my 75 are designed to have one end facing front, so if you do it right, the wires should end up on the right side. Though, according to the workshop manual, the 75 was delivered with various different calipers, so yours might have different calipers from mine).
