Alfa 75: 12v/24v conversion. Advice/tips/help
I've got a question, I'm a bit in a dubio.
I own a 75 TS, and I am thinking of converting it to a V6.
My doubt is to build a 12v or 24v. I did some research already. About what to modify and change.
When I choose for the 12v, I can source it from the transaxle V6 models, that won't be a problem. But what about the 24v?
I've read, the best 24v engine to fit in is one from the 164. I would need custom exhaust headers, custom engine mounts, probably change the flywheel to a 12v flywheel, but what else?
Are there other parts to change/modify? I won't need the powersteering unit, I'm going to mount a Motex/Omex/another kind of ECU, throttle bodies and I have an OBP pedal box. I would need the V6 driveshaft as well, I should keep my Twinspark gearbox, because of the shorter gearings, and I could change the axles to V6 axles, I have those already.
I'm brainfarting all day about the idea, which to choose. Both engines would be nice of course, my thought of it is: When I already have to modify the engine mounting, stuff like that to build a V6 in the car, I could go for the 24v, to change it for the best performance, instead of building the 12v, and whine in a couple of years why I didn't build a 24v setup.
The 24v is more high revving than the 12v, is it good to drive with a transaxle gearbox?
Or is it no problem? The car is just for fun/track use, so no daily driven car.
Thanks for the answers guys, I will research some more, and I can put in in this starting post, maybe to make a list of what to do, usefull for others maybe?
