Re: Unwell 75
it's been a while since i last saw my 75 so i can't remember exactly if the fuel pump primes when the ignition is first switched on, open the driver's door & put your head under the car, turn the key & you should hear a buzzing coming from the rear of the car, if so, the fuel pump's fine & move on to ignition. if not, check the fuse & relay first, and the electrical connections at the fuel pump. if the fuse is ok & you suspect the relay, temporarily bypass it by running a wire straight from the battery to the +terminal of the fuel pump, if it runs, should mean the relay is faulty, if not, then the pump may be suspect.
as far as ignition goes, first check all the under bonnet fuses, i've a feeling the 75 has a main fuse (60a or something ?) for the ignition, but i don't have stuff here to check.
check all electrical connections, and check for sparks at the coil output lead. check the connection at the sender at the toothed crankshaft pulley, again, i'm not sure if this stops the car completely ? i'd imagine it would.
one thing many people overlook, does your car have an immobiliser ? if so, do you know what circuit(s) it immobilizes ? i've seen systems which have disabled a wide range of things including fuel pumps, starter motors, fuel injectors, ecu's etc.
let us know how you get on.
you're never alone with schizophrenia.
