Re: 75 Propshaft Noisey
if you follow the hints on the other site for clutch removal, and pivot the front of the box forward on the de dion, you're probably only looking at a couple of hours ? you don't even need to take the wheels off.
try to get it quite high if you can, i put the front on ramps & high axle stands at the back, but it's still a bit of a squeeze under there !
once it's up on the stands, soak every nut & bolt in wd40, and go have a cup of tea, give everything a while to soak in.
i tried to do it by not dropping the front of the gearbox, the prop will come out that way, but it won't go back in. also, i got away with just taking the exhaust off the rubbers at the back, and at the gearbox, but when the box comes forward it puts pressure on the exhaust, so be careful not to damage the front.
like i say, it's not a hard job, just awkward.
keep us posted.
by the way, one of the best ways to find out if it's definitely a donut, take it to kwik fit (or similar) and explain the problem, they'll put it on the ramps & diagnose it for you, it's pretty much guaranteed they won't have the part, or be able to get it anyway ? saves you an hour lying under your car !
