1,6 complete DeDion axle in a 2,0 TS

Hi there!

I just bought a slightly damaged 75 2,0 TS and the main problem was finding a 2,0TS donnor for the damaged DeDion axle.

Then, I bumped into a 75 1,6 and ripped the rear axle from it.

1st problem...1,6 uses a 4 bolt pattern and the TS uses a 5 bolt.

I changed the wheel hubs and now it´s running fine.

But yesterday when surfing trough the net I found an information that said that the 2,0 axle is a bit wider than the 1,6 one.

What have you guys to tell me about this?

PS:

My name is Eduardo and I´m from Portugal so...forgive my poor English

I think the de-dion tube is the same for all cars, the change in track is due to different offset for the wheels for the different models.

The TS uses less ofsett, and hence get a slightly wider track

Thanks a lot...you just took a big dark cloud off my head

Since I´m using both wheels and hubs from the 2,0 TS I can actually say it´s as wide as the roiginal one.

Thanks mate!

Re: 1,6 complete DeDion axle in a 2,0 TS

Hia, I'm running two Alfetta GTV's... same basic tranny in the back (but without the limmy and the flash gear linkage).
! has a 2.0 tranny, the other has a 1.6 tranny... both started their lives as 2.0's.
From what I can see their identical in everyway, but think the ratio on the 1.6 is slightly lower, the range of each gear is very similar, just the 1.6 has slightly shorter legs.
For track use the 1.6 would be great, but is very tiring to drive any distace as it's always reving, where as the 2.0 tranny is much more suited to dual carrage ways and has a far better top end speed.

As for the four/five bolt thing.... just change the drive flange's, drive shafts are all the same (par the V6's that have a slightly different set up)... the tranny should fit and bolt up exactly the same
