I am finally ready to assembly my gearbox after four months waiting for
I bought a new synchro hub from EB Spares, trouble is instead of nice
sharp teeth (to assist engagement) it has little flats. See pic, Alfa on left ,EB Spares on right.
To me this seems dumb, as the flats can baulk on the teeth on the gears.
Has anyone used them before? At the moment it is placed at 3-4 on the gear assembly, but it is very tight and the synchros actually rub
slightly on the hub, whereas the alfa ones on 1-2 are slightly loose.
Any advice appreciated as I don't want to get it in to find a crappy
I ran out of $$$ to lighten the gears, but I did replace the worn
synchro teeth on each gear (1st and 2nd) with fresh ones out of an old
Alfetta gearbox (4th and 5th gear). I made a tool to press the synchro
teeth off the gears and then pressed the replacements back on.
Tomorrow I'm doing the measurements for pinion height so I can machine the spacer correctly.
