Help! 75 V6 coolant expansion tank

Has anyone managed to solve the problem of the unavailability of new good quality coolant bottles for the 75? The after market ones are crap. I bought one a week ago and it started leaking today. It is literally blowing apart inside. They must have glued them together with a child's glue stick. Can you fit one from a newer Alfa that is available as a genuine part, or is there one from another car that can be made to fit? I tried a 156 one today, but it is too long. I am desperate because my Potenziata is my daily driver and is always the highlight of my day when I drive it.

I'm hoping my new one isn't the same. There's definitely varying quality amongst aftermarket ones. Also, are you using a 0.7bar or 1.0bar cap?

I am using 1 bar which is what it has always had. I put my old bottle back on and returned the faulty one today. The funny thing is it wasn't seeping out from under the cap after driving into town and back, like it usually does, so I will stick with that one for the time being. Let's hope whoever made the after market ones makes some more but improves them. Whatever they used to glue them together inside was not up to the job. Just keep a close eye on yours. As I said, mine lasted a week. Some of the after market caps are a bit dodgy too. I am using a genuine late 164 one with the overflow connector in the top. It tested perfect.

Only a suggestion, are plastic welding kits of any use with this problem? I have successfully repaired numerous plastic items using heat, ie cracked bumpers, expansion tanks and so forth, and under and normal psi pressure bar I have achieved the result desired. Of course it does depend on acquiring the correct filler rod to parent material, and a degree of artisan skill.

Failing that not being an alternative to replacement, I'd go for one of similar dimensions off a more current vehicle? OK authenticity may be lost from the view of aesthetics, but to be able to drive is the( Hauptsache,) main thing?

Good Luck, and I hope you manage to sort this challenge.
