Okaydokey then, it's a bit too expensive. That kind of confirmed my thoughts. Are the drivetrains really that weak? I thought it was just the rubber donuts that failed?
Is the V6 drivetrain any better?
Anyone selling a 3.0 75?
V6 soundtrack is like no other...everyone has to own at least one Busso V6 in their lifetime! the GTV6 also has better suspension and brakes than the 2.0- adjustable front torsion bars etc .
Spend another around £2K on the RSR suspension package and you will have no body roll and very drivable car- no crashing over speed umps like a 155.
For the cost of upgrading a 2.0 to GTV6 spec, you may as well buy the GTV6...ask me how I know (have early 2.0 chrome bumper, GTV6 with RSR and 3.0 75 amongst others).
Re the value of the ebay one, depends as others have said on the state of the bodywork. Looks overpriced for what it is; unknown state of bodywork and needs recommissioning- would have thought closer to £2K to £2.5K at best. Can't see if if it has a sunroof (usually extra rust!). If it genuinely has been kept in heated storage, you will have to re-commission brakes, possibly fuel lines, etc so that will add up unless doing it yourself.
Personally, if going for the 2.0, I would go for a early chrome bumper one (there are 1 or 2 decent looking ones for sale at the moment) or the V6; both will retain their value better.
The cheapest way (long term) to buy is through Alex Jupe or Wayne Ellett as they probably know this car and may have 1-2 GTV6s or 75s in preparation for sale at any one time (I know Alex always does) and can tell you exactly what is wrong/what needs doing, at least with these guys, you also know the work has been done properly. Seems the V6 values are finally creeping up as there are fewer and fewer very decent ones around.
Alfa 75 3.0
I might be selling mine which I bought off Wayne Ellett earlier this year - I think it was owned by one of his staff or ex-staff and is well known to Alex Jupe as well. 3.0 in metallic Grey - no rust, konis and polybushed rear, etc, around 145K mileage. will need valve guides done at some stage but not using oil and well looked after. Reason for selling, 11 Alfas and no space, currently a friend looks after it. Am based in Worcester, West Mids. Wayne has quoted around £800 to do but as it doesn't need doing and the car is infrequently used, have put if off for the moment.
Have used Alex Jupe for many years now and bought a few cars off Wayne Ellett - Both Wayne and Alex are honest and straightforward to deal with although sometimes difficult to get hold of!
